SR

Thanks again everyone for all the props! It definitely drives me to get more done on the BEAST every day. Hopefully I can get some work done this weekend. I'll keep you updated!

Wow!!! Sounds like you've built a KA oven in your engine bay. HAHA!
I know what you're saying though, the last thing that I need is dirt and grime getting all over my motor and engine bay area, but it's gonna happen regardless. I'll probably make a skid plate later on, that should help keep the bay cleaner!

The KA has potential if rebuilt right with a power adder slapped to it, but so is every other motor!

I practically have a KA displacement in my SR now!! haha!! I would love to do a comparison test with a full built KA-T! Dyno graphs (power band, HP and torque #'s), 0-60, 0-100, 60-130, and front to rear weight balance difference. This would make for a good thread! or a great gamble!!!

It still blows my mind every day! I took turns sleeping with different parts the first week I got it. Manifold was first in line! lol!

That would be a excellent thread in my opinion.

You could also toss up Cost to build and MPG, I think you are on to something there hombre!

Looking forward to it if "GroundPerformance" wants to compare one of his built KA-T's. Just gotta finish the build first and I'm in! Not so sure about the cost and MPG factors of interest.

Nissan Pulsar N15 70mm T/B. I had the idle coolant passages cut off (no need) and I mounted it upside down with throttle cable pulley to the inside, I'm running the throttle cable under the plenum instead!

I'm down for a friendly competition just LMK how, when and where. Yeah, not sure on the cost factor as I always keep my builds reasonably put together but will definitely not hold off on the HP power production.

Ground Performance should give you a good run for your money, I saw him dyno his daily while the tuner was having issues with the wastegate it still put down 360+hp if I recall and of course after he left he got the WG issues sorted out, still would like to see how much more hp he could've gotten out of that motor.

This is motivating to finish this build even faster! I wouldn't call this anything near a competition, but a comparison for the finding facts and knowledge learned to better our builds! I think the upcoming comparison thread will be very interesting regardless!

did you use a s14 oil pick up or modify your stock one?
I also suggest you get some type of Ign amp system and use AEM ems
or Motec for engine tuning.
sr is a superior over ka in all aspect in technology just smaller in displacement.
I would pick a KA build over SR due to lower cost then SR for the same amount of HP,
but I still love the high rev SR more.
Cheers

If I recall right, I think my builder used the better oil pick up. I'll have to ask him.
I was planning on running a good ignition system soon, as for the engine tuning Power FC map based is what I have for now. We'll see how it does. Koji from Driftspeed will be tuning the motor and as far as I know he's the man for the job.
Hell yeah, SR over KA all day here too. I can set the rev past 9k on this motor, but I think 8.5k or even 8k might just be plenty, we'll have to see.

Thanks man! I haven't had any time lately to get any work done! Weather's been nice and cold too but just no time. I should have the brake calipers painted to match the engine bay pretty soon!

I did aim very high on the engine bay setup. I figured do it right once and for all. The rest of the car will be done right soon after the cage work, race harness, and a full paint job. Bigger rims are in plan as well!

PowerFC will do the job fine, just that it's not the optimal tuning tool for 400+ hp. Easy way to explain it would be you can run a 80mm pipping exhaust for 400+hp, but a 95mm or bigger pipping exhaust would be ideal.

Koji is great, he was my mentor when I was young, learned alot from him.
In fact it was at his house I saw my 1st japanese video of a s13 silvia and made me want one.
With background from XS Engineering as Apexi master dealer, he won't have any problem with Power FC.

Another thing I would've done would be to bore your N15 throttle body 5mm bigger before tuning it and make sure you change the heat range on the plugs.
Good luck

Dope ass build thread. I say paint the calipers gloss black, so much blue is wild. But the bay is sick!

Wow! that's cool that you've know Koji for a while. He knows the SR motor and tuning it is his specialty when it comes to the power FC. To be honest he's probably the only person that explains things to you and they make sense instantly.

I got the NGK 8's to use for the motor, and I'll probably leave the t/b for now and see what Koji suggests! But thanks for all the suggestions man, I appreciate it!

I'm trying to find some time to get stuff done on the car!
I picked up some goodies from Earls yesterday! I got some more fittings and prolite hose to complete the fuel lines all the way to where the stock hard lines are. Also, picked up a teflon speed flex -4 hose with steel end fittings for my new clutch line.

Also got a tube cutter from the hardware store so I can cut the bubble flares on the stock hard fuel lines.

Hopefully I can get some work done on the Beast soon!!! I'll keep the updates comin'!

You got -4 for your clutch line? Too big. You need -3AN.
