I was on a forum about a month ago that had forum just for questions that had been asked over and over and over again. They saved the old threads so that people could look at them, and then if they had any other questions they could post in the tech area etc.

Yeah we need a "archive" forum. That's a good idea

I think we need a FAQ section, Frequently Asked Questions, for those of you who don't know. What do you think WILD WILD WEST?

Yeah, I'm on other forums with an archive or a FAQ. Dammit though if the same exact questions are asked week after week: what kind of exhaust/springs/brakes/specs/1/4 mi. times/SR20det/off sets/etc.

No one looks at those - they just ask the question anyway. That only works if you point them to it every time instead of restarting the discussion. We could do about the same thing here w/ no archive... as often as questions are repeated, I bet they don't even drop off - just reply, "See page 6, previous!"

Do you think we should divide our sections up into catagorys. For example...

Gerneral Discussion
Interior & Exterior / Styling
Suspension & Brakes Related
Engine/ Transmission Related
Turbo & Swap Talk
Events
Group Buys & For Sale
FAQs

Those are just a few. I proply wouldnt call them all that but that gives ya an idea. I just didnt want to start the forum with all these differant sections so it didnt look like noone was posting

Now I think we have plenty of members to do this.

Everyone make some suggestions as to what kind of catagorys we should divide the sections into. Thanks!

sounds like a good idea west but i don't think everyone would use the appropriate forums. they'll probably just post in the most active one. i've seen people post tech problems and for sale adverts in this chat forum all the time.

I think LESS boards so as not to split the community.

1.CHAT --- (anything goes )

2.CAR DISCUSSION ONLY--- (talk purely cars`)

3.FAQ ---(instead of splitting the CAR DISCUSSION into smaller sections [so new users can find there subjects easier and quicker] use a stripped down FAQ section where all the common questions will lie and will be easy to get your hands on. You could go directly to your category in FAQ instead of splitting the actual community boards and splitting the actual posters up. Keep the posters in the same place to create the impression of company)

4.EVENTS

5.FOR SALE

(i`ve got sh*t for brains just ignore me)

a chat and car discussion forum seperate? some how i don't think that'd be possible. lol 99.9% of what any of us have to say usually in some tiny way has to do w/ cars but there are always those oddball subjects. lol

No y`can talk cars in the CHAT but the CAR DISCUSSION area could be for those that have openly said they are irritated with the car board turning into a social club.(come to think of it i`m not sure that was said on THIS site) If they want to talk cars they can go there. Wheras those who like the social club atmos where y`can talk cars/anything ya can go in CHAT

still thats my 2pence.
I`m sure west appreciates our feedback.
C`mon everyone else give your opinions on the layout so he can optimize its performance for more top of the pile success!

I actually like the idea of forum seperating, but as West mentioned, the post counts may not be high enough to justify it. Maybe unite NA & Turbo forum. I think you guys worried about chat needn't worry - look at any other car forum... there's never a shortage of it in any category. Flip side is that separating would help with repeat questions and the like.
