I'd pay $500 and part it out cheap, make $1000-1500 on the parts.

I can't imagine the suspension on that side is unharmed. I guess I would buy it if I were you. If you can't make it drive correctly again you can part it out and still make money.

Thanks guys ill have a buddy of mine go down on the car we will check the fuel tank along with the suspension. Ya I won't doubt the guy will want 3k for this car. At first he's all ya I spun out of control it was raining... In my head I'm all nah! You tried to drift this thing. Then he goes on about not having time to fix it body shop quoted him at 2Gs and car is under non OP then when asked about selling he's wants to (we never spoke price I avoided it) he said ya! It's a quick fix just get a quarter panel it's like $200 - $400

I myself wouldn't pay more than 500. I don't think you should do it.

Get it for 1k. You're going to replace the entire suspension anyway with aftermarket stuff. the only thing you might need is a lower control arm or a subframe, which are both cheap. Get the quarter replaced, tube frame the rear, throw some overs on it, done.

The time and money spent to make this car straight = a cheap $2-3000 Zenki that is straighter and require less work.

Less work = Fun times

Also that trunk will never be straight.. lights will never align.. no matter how good you are at pulling that thing. If the subframe is crushed or out of place.. you will never have good alignment.

I see the rear completely taco'd... also the gas tank- which tells me that the unibody underneath is completely fooked. Definitely worth the parts depending on what's still intact. If I were you, I'd take a very close look and inventory every inch of it... If there is enough going on, make an offer based on the amount you think you can get out of parting it out... minus whatever your time is worth.

As far as a track car... Unless you know how to fabricate... or know someone who will do it for peanuts- not worth it.

The problem with buying these cars is that people don't care what condition it's in, they think they have a "treasure" because it's a 240, and they think they can get a lot more than it's worth. Offer him 500 like people are suggesting and then go up from there if he doesn't want it. Either way you'll be able to repair it for cheap, or part it out and still profit. In my opinion, you should do it. You want a project, and if you change your mind, you can still sell it. You're good to go.

Why does everyone keep saying gas tank? S14 gas tanks are behind the rear seats, not under the trunk like a S13. If the damage is that far forward and high up the whole car is tweaked really bad, the rear window would be broken, and the car would drive down the road so crooked you would be using the side windows as a windscreen (exaggeration).

EDIT: Now I am not disagreeing with anyone about the severity of the under trunk area tacoing down.

i've seen people part out cars with less damage than that! good luck with fixing that. it's doable, but is it worth it?
