so confused. when using the frontspace/backspace measurements SicBastard pioneered on page 26, do you add an inch to the rim? for example, a 9j wheel is actually 10 inches lip to lip, so i assume that is the correct way. the reason i ask is because SicBeard appears to have used two different methods, one where he adds an inch and another where he doesnt. an example:

For the rear though you might even be able to pull off 18x11.5 +26. that's using a Backspace of 172, and a Frontspace of 120mm (which I'm thinking is the most you could have and still get under stock s14 R&P'd fenders and not have it look whack).
here he appears to use the actual 11.5" wheel in his calculation, whereas here:

You have a firm grasp on it. The original post/method is usually half an inch lower than the actual BS. Like you said, the difference between a wheels quoted/tire-seat width (which is used with offset), and its actual outer width (used for backspace) is usually off by about an inch.

So after you calculate the backspace using the wheels quoted width (inner tire-seat to inner tire-seat) and offset. You have to add half an inch to that to get the real back space (one inch difference between quoted and outer, devided by 2 = half inch). Of course that ~inch difference varies by wheel manufacturer, so it's always better to measure the actual wheel if you have it.

i have my flame suit on, due to the ride height. lol

Gsxr, what kind of wheels are those? I've been looking for a set of 17x10.5's and am having a hard time finding any that aren't either ridiculously expensive or mustang replicas.

yep. the rears are reps, and the fronts are ford wheels. you can't really go wrong for the price. i actually wish the rear offset was weaker so the tires would sit in a little farther. oh well, nothing a roll and pull can't fix. lol

Lmao GTFO with that bullshit. 215 tires on an 8.25 wheel? The only way 215 are acceptable in this thread is if you put em on bicycle rims.

Finally put on wheels 285/35 rear and 255/35 front.
I would really like to run a 285/275 or 275 all around or 275/265 but this is what I've got for now.

20mm wide fronts
50mm rears. running a 25mm spacer in the rear.

Sweet, now I can order fenders! I was wondering if I'd need 20mm fenders on my coupe running these wheels, I've got the same size front wheel/tire as you (17" though) and 275/40 rear tire. Hoping I can get by with just a roll/pull in the rear though.

don't know if the rears are quite "MAX TIRE" judging by the stretch. clean car though.

While I slightly agree, I would think it's "max tire" for the given car/body, not given wheel width. Mine is slightly stretched at a 285 on an 11", but it's a god damn tucked 285 on a stock bodied(pull) S13... thereby making it a MAX tire on said vehicle. With all of that being said, a 275 is not that max on an S14.

I agree for the most part but more than 50% of this thread is cars running 255-275's out back so i thought i could share my set up here too. It's funny, i didn't hear shit when i shared my old set up here which was the exact same width tires and smaller rims lol.

Just because I saw this thread still alive while looking for wheels for my fiance's car.......

Trying to figure out how to make this work:
18x12 CCW (6.75" backspace)
315/30R18 Hoosier A6

Up front:

Might need to build up some new front fenders...

PJ, Hope you don't mind but I've got a ton of questions for ya:

-What's your ground clearance to the lowest part of the powerbrace?
-How much compression travel do you think you have at the current ride height?
-How much strut clearance do you have with then18x12 and 6.75" backspace in front? I pressume you're running at least a 0.5" spacer?

Thanx a million! I've got to get out to the Meadowlands to watch the Panda some day!

ok, this is may be a goofy question. but i came across some wheels today i really like and am considering buying them.

they are 16x13 with a 5 7/8 backspace so + 24 (correct?)
if i got 50mm rear over fenders on a S13 coupe, i SHOULD be able to fit these on with a 315 tire correct?
