i know this has been discussed before, but it mighta been on NICO

anyway, the conclusion was that the car isn't made anymore, and they didn't make enough of em to start with that very many people can get their hands on them, and when people do get them (like we do) we don't like to give them up.

I think any newbie should go out and buy that issue because it gives alot of information about the differances and such. I personally thought the how-to conversion will be valuable to me when it comes time to do it myself. Anyways, I give it to enthusiatic thumbs up!

Kinda late here but, I barely got my issue Monday, decent write up, looks like they did some reasonable research before the writing. But I can only assume that the prices are gonna go up on everything Silvia related. From steering wheels to valve covers to grills. Just look at the Honda/Acura scene, $5500 for a damn B18C5 and for what 195HP and 127lb ft of torque??? Even the GSR engine is kinda high, next thing you know there will be companies like APC developing ricey products soley for the 240.
This issue kinda got me thinking, well you can only publish so many issues of a Civic with (insert your favorite Honda motor here) B18C, B18C5, H22, B20 etc. So what can do to a Honda that hasn't already been some 50 times over???
They needed something new and why not jump on the 240/Silvia bandwagon??? It'll sell cuz its fresh, see any latest SS mag, they used to suck bad, total rice, they've gotten a little better but still....should've known they were gonna come after us someday...

Yeah, I bought that issue just to read how stupid they are. $3000 USD to do that? Yeah, if you have your own huge goddamn garage with the works. It'll cost you so much more if you're like 99% of the people that will do it.

The thing is, people around here (70% Portuguese and Italian) think that they're the ugliest cars ever, because they have popup headlights, and think that the Silvias are even uglier because they're so square looking. That's why they like Hondas. And that's what I want them to keep liking.

i'm surprised to no one mentioned how they got a 180 front clip (minus bodywork) for $1,500 out of a junk yard in Cali. that sure brought down the cost quite a bit... plus they got the Silvia fenders, hood, bumper and headlights for just $500. talk about a good deal

Yeah, I even called that company just for shits and giggles, of course, after being mentioned in SS, their prices are more than other places even. I'm sure they were before, but just hooked up SS to get their name out there.

It's the May issue of SCC we are all speaking of......I just got the mag the other day and read the whole thing through. I do believe some of thier quotes regarding prices for certain things like the clip and all are off, but of course that is due to the fact that they are a widely published mag that has tons of readers....advertisement my friends. Consider yourself lucky if you ever find a front clip for the much.

I liked the write-up on Chris May's car.....I personally don't care for the overall look of the car (Erebuni kit and Bomex eye-mask), but give him tons of props for all the extensive work he went through to get those numbers from the KA (of course it was tens of thousands of dollars, but hey). Chris was the pioneer when trying to get huge numbers out of the KA and also happened to be the first guy I called when looking to for someone to answer some questions I had regarding turbocharging the KA. He was such a nice guy and answered every question I had.....ended up being a $15 phone call....yikes, but it was well worth it.

Anyways, congrats to Chris and MArcos for getting thier cars into the mag and I hope to see more of us in thier eventually...not too many of us though

If I remember correctly, Dave Coleman (wrote the article) started to contact a lot of people on the FA Forum. He got a lot of his information from there. This was a while back (maybe a year ago) when he started this project. Back then, the swap wasn't that popular and Venus-Auto (the place they got the clip/body panels) did sell it at that price (From what Demon said, he's worked w/ Venus before I think). I'm nearby so I wouldn't mind going up there to visually inspect what they have, but I prefer to spend my money on my edu-ma-kay-shun for now and do the swap when I'm outta school.

I'm guessing that they did this swap a long time ago and finally finished it to publish in the latest issue of SCC. If you want more proof, look at the KA-T car in there. Chris May (forgive me if that isn't the owner) said that they came out to do the story/pics over a year ago and now its finally an article. They do a lot of these stories in advance, which was well before F&F came out (a movie that helped inform a lot of people about the SR engine) and before many people knew about the swap. It only seems natural now for the Venus to raise their prices because of higher demand. The great thing is that other importers are realizing that SR engines are popular and have asked to receive them along with their Honda B-engines. I still think you can find an engine with everything attached, but its just going to take a smart buyer to know what to look for. I am worried that those who hop on the bandwagon pick up SR's w/ no MAFs, no ECU's, or cut harness' and convince the importers that they can cut costs that way and think that no one cares as long as the "engine" is there.

Wow what a long post... that's my $0.02 about this. I sure hope I didn't confuse anybody.
