The dollar/yen was only one part of the equation during the mid ninties. The new safety requirements imposed in what, 1996? that was the reason many manufacturers pulled their cars from the lineup. This is why we dont have the 97+ Z32 300ZX... and why cars like the Supra got pulled, it was just too expensive. FD RX7 also stopped in 96.
