RB25, Holset, Bang Bang Skeet Skeet
Here's the new car for next year. I've been slacking on making a build thread on here for quite some time, figured now would be a good time.. end of the year, holidays comin up, what the hell, it's the season to share things...
Here's what it looked like when I first got it from Hampton I quickly got to work and here it goes cut the core support cut the fender wells Since there were 0 wires in the car I thought it'd be a good time to make a chassis harness from scratch. Fairly easy actually and so satisfying when you see that things work correctly Circuit breaker Got some carbon fibre from our supplier so I can make the switch panel Ecu mount Dash looked like shit all cracked and worn out So I filled in the cracks, prepped it and flocked it with black velvet flock Made the Gauge panel out of the left over carbon fibre Cut out the factory lower core support to make a better one and for better clearance of the new radiator Boxed in the frame rails Mid mount setup! had to be the simplest piping we've ever done. only had to weld one pipe lol Sold the D-max hood and put my old Origin one on from the coupe I used to drive in 09. The raised section of this hood works way better for the RB25 and its tall ass front cover. Last edited by ridesnowx4; 02-18-2014 at 02:29 PM.. Reason: Tittle Change |

Exactly!! I'm sick of LS's they take all the skill out of drifting.
This RB will make around 450 wheel with a responsive tune and antilag limiter, I've got a small holset turbo, well small for a holset that is, going on it soon, just gotta get a good computer and injectors. Need to do more research on how to wire up an rb26 d-jetro on a series 2 rb25. Once that's all tuned I'm going o start building a longblock back up motor to ensure minimal downtime with the car. |

Not to mention the RB sounds 100% sweeter.

im a huge fan of this car. im doing a similar build for a similar reason. all my friends has frickin LS motors. Its SAD that to be original in drifting anymore you have to use something OTHER than an LSx.. what happened to the turbos and the ignition cut rev limiters i used to hear. now all the cars sound the same. like a camaro. yyyyyaaaayyyy

i agree man. im tired of the v8 240sx cars. in all honesty i believe that the fomula drift rules should be changed up a bit and you have to run a motor that originally came with the car. i personally went with an sr motor but i think our little 4 and 6 cylinder cars give the v8 mustangs and camaros a good run for there money.

Looking good man. Props on staying RB. LSx's rip, but RB's are awesome!

Thanks! Yeah I've loved the RB ever since I drove an R33 back in 05, had to get one. Either that or maybe build a 2j powered FD for the next project. but can't seem to get away from the S chassis after building 4 of them lol

RB's isn't exactly different, but yes I prefer a responsive RB with an anti-lag limiter over an LS.
I've driven LS's and i'm just not a fan. Only way I'll use one is if one of my sponsors basically makes me use one. Unfortunately that's where "American" drifting is headed. LS's take all of the fineness and skill out of drifting, IMO. and I'm personally tired of closing my eyes at XDC and FD events and feeling like i'm at a NASCAR event.... |

Professional Drifting in general is going the wrong direction, but that's a whole other topic.
Of course people will choose brute, yet cheap horsepower over something semi reliable. Boost leaks, heat soak, and all the sort with turbo motors are just the obvious inconveniences. I don't like seeing LS swaps being so common either, but they're just about unbeaten in efficiency. I like what you're doing here though, so I'll subscribe. |

i think it had to do with the fact that i can buy most of the parts i need for a 240. the build would go much faster. i had plans of fabricating everything for the 190 and since ive been away from my wife for over 9 months, i realised that i want to spend more time at home and possibly have a kid. i think ill keep the 190 for a contingency plan haha as for the LS issue. this is a build thread not a debate thread. its personal preference. |
