$199 seems a little cheap, plus it's ebay so if that's a risk you're willing to take then go for it.

Does it say who makes the lights that you're getting with the kit? I know ixfxi does custom light conversions and his cost way more than this, but I've seen them in person and it's very good work. I personally would say that in most cases you get what you pay for and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

It'd look weird on a kouki, you could really only pull off one ring per side cuz they'd interfere with the high beams

Yeah, be sure to take some pics. I think they look ok. Personal preference...

I've stopped doing mods based on what others may might think/say about it (to a degree).

I think they'll look good/ok depending on the car as a whole.

they're just some cold cathode bulbs... and its a kit u have to install... cold cathodes can be ordered in any shape you want. Those round ones u can even get at microcenter - lol. either way, i dont like it - and for 200 bucks you can prolly find something cooler to spend $ on.

either way - you better get the nice covers from supermade/final konnexion or whatever - because putting the stock glass back on is gonna be gay.

<captain Obvious> That's Mike aka ixfxi </capt>

As for the eBay kit, it's only a DIY cold cathode kit. Nothing to write home about.
Do it. You seem to like them. It might even look good.

Be aware that a lot of kits are not DOT-approved, and may give the police a reason to pull you over to look for other violations.

You want to put crappy round "angel eyes" in large rectangular lights?

This thread makes me unhappy.

DOT approved is misleading.

More like meets DOT standards

You are absolutely correct. The USDOT itself does not approve or disapprove any equipment. Instead, the USDOT issues a series if specifications for equipment safety. The manufacturer self-certifies and can claim DOT compliant equipment.

Nonetheless, each state has its own vehicle safety inspection administered by the state police in conjunction with the state's own DOT. Usually the laws require headlights to be "DOT approved" where "DOT" refers to the state's DOT, and the state's DOT would defer to USDOT specs, i.e. must have "DOT" or "SAE" printed on the lens.

Some states even require "USDOT approved" equipment as codified by law. Based on this wording, these laws are impossible to comply with for the very reason stated above.

Good catch.
