Received a speeding ticket yesterday and got the hood pop as well. Ended up with the following ticket on my s13 couple with SR.

VC 22350 Basic Speeding
VC 27156b modified emission

My question are the following. As I couldn't find any recent thread regarding this. I know swapping in the KA24DE would work but that is my last resort.

1) Could I pay the fine and not correct the emission as,I need the car asap since it was my DD.

2) Would transferring the title get rid of the state referee?

3) Could I sell the car without having any issue for the new buyer or myself? I'm getting tired of all this emission crap and a towing vehicle will be needed shorty.

Any other recommendations would be appreciated as well.

I doubt you can just pay off the fine and keep the car as is without a state ref cert.

Only way to sell the car without hassle is to sell to someone out of state.. and even then its likely that it has to be registered as a parts car.

Ive also heard you can play dumb, bring a regular smog cert when you go court and use it as proof... but that is depending how lucky you are with the judge. This was also done 6 years ago so i dont know how it is now a days.

Its gonna be hard bu t i heard you can just pay the fine ($300) i think.... also this is why the ka is better than the sr in cali. I would rather just take the turbo off and go get reffed then dealing with a swap.

Dude. Its not just there. But once a cop pulls over a few s chassis he will know whats up with those cars. If you pay it will be off your record. My friend got a ref ticket in a 71 z with an rb25 swap lol. Other friends have had like 5 ref tickets in a matter of months and paid them got on with their life, but it doesnt help if you drive like you stole it or if your car looks modded. Plus cops can smell fear just like dogs can lmao.

He knew exactly what kind of car it was. Stating these car are fast. Well whatever, he could have been a complete ass and towed my car as well as arrested me for reckless driving.

To my knowledge you CAN just pay the ticket, but its a bit over a grand. This is from when I was in the DSM game with diesel turbos slapped on, but i have not personally had to deal with state refs.Aero Latch locking hood "pins" FTW. Rather pay towing fees than deal with the hassle of refs.

The whole probably cause thing really is your worst nightmare. It gives them the ability to tow your car if you do not consent to a search because they may or may not have heard a BOV which they could not prove based on looking at the outside of your car. Friend of mine had to get his stock honda commuter out of impound because he was satirical with a Illest sticker on his back window giving probable cause to a LEO. Yeah he got the car put there because he is a big know your rights guy and would not consent to the search but still.

With hood locks, oh officer sorry I forgot the locks at home, gonna need a search warrant to prove they are in my glovebox.

This right here is the damn truth. They have no legal right to search the car or anything that is locked, such as glovebox or trunk. Same goes for your gun, if it is locked in a secure carry box they need a warrant to open it. Problem is people give in. Im telling you this because my gun safety instructor is a sherrif and he told us to never let cops take advantage of your right to carry weapons properly.

Pay the bail amount should be around $5-600 .
The bail amount will come in the courtesy reminder/court date in the mail.
I know this from experience. That way you don't have to correct the problem because it goes away once bail amount is played.

You can pay the fine and not have to correct anything bit you will have to pay for every citation that was given my buddy had his hood popped on his FD and he just payed the fine which came out to be like 700 and he was supposed to get it refereed but he payed the fine and he got to keep his mods on

So I finally got the bail amount in the mail. I'm a bit confused on the option that are given to me and hope you guys could shed some light on it.

With that said, I could pay for the citation buy mail, phone or online. The only thing they mention about the proof of correction is this.

"To handle this citation by mail, you must pay the bail/fee amount shown above and include proof of correction of any mechanical/registration/license violation explained on the back of your citation. Note that is not considered correspondence. Inspection station may also charge a fee. If you plan to mail in the proof of correction doc, be sure the agency does not use a red stamp or maker."

I also looked online to pay my bail. My options are the following:
1) Appearance Date Extention
2) traffic school payment - the amount due is 510 plus 10 for service fee will be added to this amount. Traffic school is due on so and so.
3) full payment to close your citation. The amount is 856 plus 10 for service fee.
4) court date reservation for arraignment only.

So I am under the impression that I could pay the full amount online and not have to correct anything. Is this correct? I just find it weird that a proof of correction is needed when mailing but not when I pay online.

I'm also wondering if I opt for the traffic school payment, is my bail amount just the 510 plus the 10 service fee? Also would this close out my citation without the proof of correction?

Paid the full amount plus traffic school fee. Came out to 920 and I'm back on the road...

I'm in the same situation. I'm just gonna pay the fine also. I had a exhaust violation along with my emission violation. The cop went on popping my hood because of the suspicion of my modded exhaust which is a apexi noir. Stealth looking black. I got a ticket sampled proving my exhaust was good a while back from chp because I go lucky and they didn't actually look at it just stamped it and I was gone. For future altercations do you think I can say my hood can't get popped cuz my exhaust is cool with chp? At the time I didn't have the stamped tix with me but now I do.

There is no way around it unless its a minor fix it (blow off valve or something on a oem f/i car).

It depends on the judge. My judge didn't let me just pay the fine straight up. He rejected me and told me I had to get it repaired by a certain date, I ended up selling my car because of it.

that sucks that you have to go through that now a days. Back in the ole days guys much older than us ran wide open pipes on hot rides and i am pretty sure they didn't get modified parts tickets. I'm glad i live in a state that doesn't worry about that as much.
