so i was def not pulling the front end apart yet, but the weather decided against me. rained the whole way home. less than an hour after i got home the ugly started to surface. pulled everything off and cleaned it all up and primered most of it. still need to go over a few areas i missed. i had planned on getting my radiator hoses and sensor on today and fluids in but i wasnt able to. hopefully i can get it mostly done tomorrow. more updates as they arrive.

got a heater in the garage finally and it was semi warm today. go figure.
i got my radiator hoses on and the adapter and the sensor and info wire ran. my battery is dead and to small for the rb so im still waiting on a new one. hopefully taxes hit sooner rather than later and ill have everything ordered way faster. after messing around with the intercooler and piping i decided to pick up a different intercooler as well. i dont like how low the current one hangs and i dont like all the extra piping i can delete. apart from that i also need a bov pipe and bov otherwise i wont clear the hood. slowly but surely. |

got some more time to work on the car today. getting a little closer.
tested it out to make sure it was working correctly. got it all wired in to aahha the best of my wiring abilities. all cleaned up. the gauges are wired to come on with ac, and the lights always on. nothing fancy. they work and function as they should with no issue with the exclusion of oil pressure. the info wire is ran but im not adding the sensor until my next oil change. getting coolant in tomorrow and making sure there is no leaks. |

its been a bit since ive actually gotten to work on the car. iv done a lot to get my garage to something i like being in. i got my new intercooler in and a universal piping kit. mastermind pipe together and took it for a drive. hahaha or a few drives.
im really loving this motor and setup, makes awesome power, and its never waiting for more. its the smoothest motor ive ever gotten to drive. and i love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pZsmn7U62E here is a quick pull and drive with it. i was meaning to take a video today but i forgot. the intercooler is ziptied on to just get a proper mount point. will be securely mounted shortly. also have to get a few plugs and tackle wiring all my lights up front. i need to pick up a battery and a wideband. then go from there. here are some random pictures. |

Best investment for any rb20 build is is a front facing intake manifold. It makes checking/ changing coil pack easier not to mention you lose 8497538957 miles in intercooler piping = less lag.
good on you for bringing it back from the dead tho

I thought about it. But I've decided against it for now. Only reason being is it will get rid of my long runners and what low end tq I do have will be gone.

so i finally got some work done lately. there is a ton of work that needs done and knowing i wont have the car ready for brolex on the 24th is demoralizing. so i got on the underside of the car. i need to replace the subframe bushings, the ebrake cables, and the speed sensor for the rb trans to send the right signal to my cluster. i started with the subframe.
now i didnt just light all the bushings on fire, but i did burn them a little. it worked really well by heating up around the outside of the bushing and they came out with a punch and hammer. now on to pressing them in. i called megan racing the people i purchased the bushings from and told me i didnt have to cut out the inner collars. so i was like ok just press them in. wrong. i almost blew up my subframe and partially damaged the metal on the collar. it wasnt fun. so for future reference. remove this before you do this Last edited by andrew600; 03-14-2013 at 02:25 PM.. |

This build is awesome. I just read through the whole thing, did not see the tube front and rb20 coming ha.
I guess I missed it but how come the switch from sr to rb? |

Thanks man. And yea I went tube front cause I didn't wanna give up on the car yet and it was still in great condition it just needed some love. And I swapped rb because I wanted something different from what I had. This particular rb put down the goal hp numbers that I wanted out of the sr. And now after driving it around a bit, I'm upset I didn't go rb from the get go.

so after getting all the bushings pressed in, i put it all back together and put it back under the car.
then i started wiring in the lights. got the driver side completely done. finishing passenger tomorrow. and today i got my intercooler mount finally done, and battery tray in. we had it ziptied so i could test drive it and so we could get the pipe mounted. got all the mounts built and on! picked up some new hardware and some rubber bushings. and battery tray welded in. with brolex being on sunday i still dont see myself ready for it. i have a ton i need to do and just not enough time to get it done. i should however be able to drive it to work on monday and hit the next event. |

no
sorry i have no idea and what about it? and its factory 89 carpet. longish story, fell on some hard times so i had to sell it. time came around to buy another and bought a coupe, and traded for it back again. its a shell. a little worse than when i sold it. but overall still a solid shell. i was originally going to ls1, but im honestly thinking about rb20 again and just doing a really reliable build with it. silvia front again since the tube is built for it, 5 lug now. i think im going to run dual rear calipers for track days. and im going to try my ass off to delete the fucking sunroof. |
