Ok, so I finally took pictures of the motor all cleaned up. Let it be known that I still plan on getting a coil cover, painting the front cover red to match the car, wrinkle coating the intake manifold. Idk if i want to do it black or in a nice silver color though? seen it look good both ways...

I was really happy with how good the motor/tranny cleaned up. also painted the pulleys

I was wondering if anyone knows how an aftermarket tach and speedometer would wire up on the RB? I dont want to send mine away or get the maxima tach that works and whatnot. Im looking to get Autometer for both and am not quite sure how it would work with the 240/RB. thanks

My speedo is off about 20mph after tweaking it. But my rpms are only about 500 off.I might just pick up the new PBM digital rpm gauge. If you want to use the stock gauges just pull them out and adjust the meters in the back. There was a thread someplace on it.

Well i would actually like to buy some aftermarket Autometer gauges but im not too sure on how the wiring goes. The tach would normally go to the distributor but seeing as how an RB has coil packs thats obviously not gonna work...

It would be wired into the Crank sensor or Cam.

Ohh true that. Makes sense. And im guessing the one for the speedometer would be a plug on the tranny somewhere

I have the lower harness prep for the rb25det series 2. I think the neo is the same for the tranny part anyways. Are you reusing the ka lower harness?

You see the sensor next to your tranny oil fill plug? That is the speed sensor. You just cut off your plug that goes to the ka speed sensor and connect the plug that's in the speed sensor to the wire's and your all good.

haha, thanks. its so cool when people are interested in these cars as well! once its running again ill post up a video and such. the water pump motor wasnt pumping fast enough so there is a hairline crack in the head. had to pull the motor back apart and send it away to get fixed, and then when i got it ripped apart realized that it had too much cam in it so i also have to put the smaller cam back in it

Had some time over the last few days to dig into it a little bit more. Just about ready to be degreased and then scuffed, as it will be getting painted before the motor is dropped in

Here are the pics, enjoy

And some junk/parts, lol. Probly should have been a little more organized

I got everything out of the engine bay that needed to come out before paint. Also started to scuff the bay and take out the unnecessary brackets and such.

Mock up and test fit before paint and the finishing touches. Its getting there!
