91 hatch build-clean and daily

hello erbody. this is my 4th 240sx. first boosted one, second most powerful.
this 240 i picked up from a local guy on a local forum

very well maintained, no rust, sr20det, 180tails, some love.

i was so excited, i got right to work.
here is first day.

that was the first day. for me its come pretty far.
i found a good deal on some 180sx seats, trans(current one grinds 2nd) fmic and bov.

removing the old leather i hate!
new love

installing

before i could even put the fmic on i had the stock bov pretty much fall apart on me.

i ended up ghettoing it back together.

changed front brakes

side pic

so even though i dont sit in the back i really hate leather hahahahah
removing rears

other issue i had. turbo unbolted from the manifold. oooo noooos!

in the middle of changing that i took a break to remove all the stickers. just not a fan of stickers

finishing up the gasket replacement

installed orange key ring light

got a sweet gauge pod to hold my gauges

got a dash mat as well. the dash itself, is completely perfect. and i wanna keep it that way

got to work on the front mount

here is a night shot of it

me and my friends miata

really wanted orange gauges like i have in my truck so i ordered some leds from superbrightleds.

didnt fill out right, i had to order two more small ones.

remounted my turbo timer, it was taped under my dash and it kept falling on my leg. so i cut and re soldered.

nothing really wrong with my turbo, there is a crazy leak right after the turbo on the elbow. so i ordered a used one to rebuild

i replaced the back brakes. come to find out the back driver caliper is shot. replacing both calipers soon.

^^^^^^
passenger
driver

the exhaust i have on currently is very very loud and annoying. so i decided to change it. got a downpipe highflow cat and an apexi spec. i cant wait to have it on.

i have some wheels going on saturday, i have exedy stage 2 coming in. along with my turbo rebuild, lines, and other odds and ends. updates as they arrive.
lulz already edit, the fmic is waaaaay to big. ordering one half the size.thanks guys!

im about halfway through the turbo rebuild and i just decided to get a new turbo instead just so i can have it nice and new. also got my exhaust on. apexi spec, high flow cat. still small leak and dp and elbow. but its getting worked out. also have coilovers on the way
stuffing the exhaust in the car hahah

coilovers that will be here within two weeks

heres a video of my exhaust thats on there now. slight leak, but its sounds amazing imo, very quiet with a deep tone. idk about the canister look though.
andrewsr20's Channel - YouTube
also idle is a little high at about 950 from my destroyed idle screw.

Clean hatch. I'm liking everything except that bov fix lol. I'm guessing since everything you have bought so far is pretty good quality parts that it is just a temporary fix though. Keep up the good work

also got the baffle removed because it was bouncing around like crazy

small photo shoot. coilovers hope to have them here this week so i can put them in this next weekend! i comment on this because i dont like have different rims up front and rear end in the ass.

night time
5 second exposure

Turbo rebuilds are awesome. I was nervous when I did mine, didn't mark a thing. what do you know, it ended up being perfectly fine. Shits awesome. Good looking car.

eh, don't blame you, I almost did the same. but it was a fun learning experience rebuilding it. almost felt like it ran better than it did brand new!

got the coilovers on. and oh my god its not even night and day its other worldly difference. the whole car hugs the road and absorbs the bumps i feel almost no road movement anymore or anything. its 100% way better than i had.

i have the coils all set and dialed in, the height needs to go down a little still. rims are going to xxr527 so i can get some better fitment. but i need an alignment for sure. but oh my god these coilovers are top notch.

Looks exactly like the hatch I just purchased! Mine is a 91 hatch, has a blown headgasket KA in it and came with an SR and trans plus everything to get it going. I found it in southern Indiana.

nice clean up. i like it when people take the time to get to know their car before they tear into it to mod it, cause then they usually fuck something up, then come running into here for help, when if they did simple maintenance from the get go they would avoid it, or have a good understanding.

yay. replaced my iacv today. idle was crazy high (1100) . plastic screw was destroyed. cold starts it would die without adding gas. retarded issues. not to mention my bov is leaking. fixing tom though. on to today.

cold
cold start up issues sr20det s13 - YouTube
warm
warm idle problems sr20det s13 - YouTube
new iacv with metal screw

getting started. unplugging everything, removing hoses, and starting to loosen stuff.

everything unbolted, and removed mostly. two more hoses on iacv on the back side. they sucked ass

gone, yay!

removing iacv

removed

new one

going back on

all in all it took around 3.5 hrs and was very straight forward with no hidden surprises or issues. someone thats done it before could def do it faster. i did it with a 30 second glance on some pictures and thats it.
camera died. so i didnt get an after video of idle. but its idling steady right around 750. which is sweeet.
