SXDS15 -Lets try go pretty fast n stuff and keep it street registered. .

We figured it was time I brought those interested up to date on the car. I know I promised a while ago to put pictures up. Here they are. =)

As many of you know the car has served nfi pretty well but he'd decided it was time to create something a bit more hardcore that was lighter, had more grip, looks the part and is much more rewarding to drive. Its still going to be registered and fully engineered... In fact it already is So its a bit of an all rounder at the moment but I guess pretty much directed at the track.

Figure we'll let the pictures do the talking since thats what everyone wants to see.

This sound deadening was the worst job to remove. On s13-s14 they use a sound deadener that is easily removed with dry ice simply cracking off. The stuff in the s15 was really bad... dry ice barely helped, you it left a dirty residue that was stuck to the floor and was really hard to get off.

The big job started.......... I reckon removing the sound deadening and getting to the clean pics you see later on took 3 people on average working on it at any point in time about 70-80 hours all up. The SXD180 we did recently by comparison would have been lucky to have taken 15-20 to completely finish.

Note the fan as the thinners we were using were making some of us cross eyed.

Having a car with nothing wrong with and then getting it to this point was a bit depressing. Looked seriously bad.

First set of new rims. 18x10 +12. I could believe how light these were even with R comps on them.

More soon!

Pete from Bodyform builds out the body and then seals it all with urethane. His attention to detail is awesome. =)

One of the many tow trucks the car has been on in the last 4 months. This was from Bodyform to where the chassis work was done.

This was obviously pre roll cage.

Borrowed rims.... I reckon these look tough.

This is actually just before the cage was finished. There is also 1 cross bar on the main hoop so I could get a cams certificate. The parcel shelf had yet to be cleaned up and finished off neatly and then seam welded.

More soon!

Brad at Profabrications put together the cage for us we were quite happy with the end result. Keeping everything pretty simple and road legal. The front braces are removable and fit in with the stock door trims intact.

Sub frame out to weld in harness tabs.

Very tight to the pillars, sweet.

The std fuel flap required some pink bits to sit flush.

Everything stock except for the bare essentials to get a decent track alignment.

More soon!

Great start to the build, beautiful car to boot. What are the overall intentions with this build?

This car is has been built as a weekend street car (lots of twisty roads around Sydney) and for club motorsport. We competed it in WTAC Open class (World time attack challenge) last year and its being rebuilt again this year with lots of upgrades for this years event. I suppose the overall end goal is to build quick cars that are a shitload of fun to drive! Also having fun hanging out with our mates at the same time... =)

We're mostly S chassis or nissan lifetime owners and plan to own our cars until we cant drive them hard anymore (and there is no point in owning them).
Thanks for the supportive comments guys, like us on facebook for some more updates surrounding WTAC and general other stuff to do with the builds! A tonne more stuff of the build coming soon on here too! =)

Some shots of chassis work, there was a lot of little things done but James is abit cagey about them. =)

The next task was painting the interior. The perfectionists involved got a little out of control and the interior was not far off being a bare metal respray.

The finished product.... There is still a few minor things to be fixed up but its pretty much done here.

The same as spot welds anywhere man, chassis rigidity. Some of those are not welds from the interior either they're marks made from welding the other side.

Some of this is old material just have to take the time and go through it all looking for the good photos and writeup a bit about it. Besides half the fun of a build thread is waiting to see whats next right??

Once we catch up to where the car is now it'll be a bit easier for me cause I'd do updates withing a week or so of the work having happened so its fresh in my mind! =) To give you an idea though I've been working on my build from the beginning of August 2011 though and its been getting at least 20 hours a week if not more. So if things seem like they're moving fast thats why :P

So the car ended up getting painted afew weeks later. We ended up doing Clear over base (COB) that is more time consuming and difficult to do but gets a better, deeper finish. The car ended up getting 6 coats of base coat and then 3 coats of clear. The paint is extremely white in the sun. Nobody could look at the car the glare was so bad. The finish came out really well and the extra effort put into prep shows. James Snell will also be painting the SXD180 (My car).

The top stage boot lid had arrived the week before as well. It came in very light at under 3kg if you look closely you can see the top stage logo in the mould which was a bit disappointing given the great expense of the item.

Some of my happy snaps the car looked amazing in daylight. The engine bay had quite a bit of work put into it to clean it all up. Looks miles better than it did before but still needs and engine out respray and new bits. This was planned for later on though so not much time wasted on this now.

Fits the TE37SL's with ease, this was before the stickers where put on which I think makes them look alot better than the pain grey to be honest.

In all of these shots the car had yet to be cut and buffed which added a much nicer finish again.

The car finally got cut and buffed. Also the bonnet arrived from Japan. I reckon it looks mega tough and its also very functional so far as removing heat but there is an issue with getting water on the coils cause the vents go so far back. We'll have to run some sort of coil pack cover on the street.

Also fitted up the stickers on the TE's this really sets them off as they look rather plain without them imo.

Wrapped in 285 RSR's =)

More soon.

So shortly after this nfi jumped on the bandwagon with WTAC and forked out for his entry fee. The car had already done a 107 at Wakefield with nfi at the helm prior to the large increase in track and rubber. Eastern Creek being the track it is though there are alot of easy seconds to be had with more hp. Funding would not permit for a total overhaul of the little SR so our choices were pretty limited to something reasonably sensible. We measured up the trailer and the car and realise there was no way in hell it was going to fit with the extra phatness so some "Modifying" had to occur.

More soon.
