z32 tranny won't go into gear. (mazworx kit)

Okay guys, I am in the process of installing a vh45 and z32 tranny in my 240. I have the engine in the bay and the transmission bolted up but for some reason the striking arm/shifter seem to be sitting at an angle away from the driver. I can not get the transmission to go into more that two gears. I was wondering if I could have possibly installed the striking arm upside down? It can only be installed two ways due to the fact that you have to put a pin in it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

This is the part of the transmission I am talking about in case clarification is needed.
