no drift car would be complete without a giant sticker that covers half your windshield

This. So many people just get into s-chassis and start modding before even breaking the tires loose once. Friend of mine was on cut springs, welded diff, and a single cam and could out drift me right after I had bought my sr hatch on coils. Best mods to start out with is fixing things and reliability mods.

THIS.

ever seen hulk hogans kid drift his viper. That's what happens when you don't have seat time and think you can just learn in a already purpose built drift car.

It takes experience to understand why you need 6 degrees of negative front camber....same with learning about different front and rear tire sizes/compounds.

none the less...everyone has to start somewhere.

I dont consider getting experience a mod...

mod= upgrading your car

experience= upgrading your skill level

even though experience is everything in any motorsport i personally dont consider it a mod....

What i would say when i raced MX is 90% rider 10 & bike, same thing in this case.. but as you grow more experienced the more mods you need so you can enhance your driving like higher speeds and learning to control at those high speeds. even if your a pro and your car cant keep up with you, your opponent will win because youll be trying to keep up witch means less angle.. where as the guy/gal with more power or mods than you will be able to widen the gap between the 2 of you and have better angle.

All in all i do believe mods can play a part in how experienced you are and sometimes you can just feel like your car is just holding you back because its not fast or the suspension isnt good enough or other mods you need ETC. But yeah experience is best of allllll.

yeah, there's some shop in city of industry.

Real easy, go on craigslist, and search auto parts for "welded diff" in LA area. They charge $100 for remove and install with welded diff. They keep your old one.

You don't need a bucket seat, scoot your seat up!
Welded diff, lots of tires.
Then you can get coilovers if you really want, but don't slam it and you want have to pay for a new alignment... done!

welded diff, tires and coilovers, that's it:

Shit! I've done it backwards... Full suspension upgrade from adjustable arms, coils, diff, solid subframe bushing, reinforced subframe to dropping as most weight as possible in the car, bucket seat, hydro ebrake ...still need to order my front driftworks knuckles and I have yet to drift my car. Never have... Dammit

I aligned my drift car one time in the years and years I owned it (and it didn't come out very good anyways)

You should be fine by just eyeballing it. That's all I did.

well,.... i wouldnt recommend that.

A consistent / reliable set up is where its at.

otherwise your just compensating here and there for your cars set up slowly going to shit over time

I'm sure BH's eyeballing it...is 95% accurate. Good enough to get you driving, and fine for beggining drifting, if you can get an alignment though, highly recommended.

yes, the driver will make up for any issues the car may have, but you can't build consistency when the car isn't accurately "even" or "setup".

Like why would you run a 205 on one side and a 235 on the other. You could technically drift it, but not the best.

string alignments work...electronic/laser is always the most accurate. Next thing you know Quoc will chime in about how he has pre-set measurements for all his arms that give him pre-set alignment specs. lol.
