I want to run my future setup past you guys for some advice. Here is where I left off last fall:

F: 17x9 +12 225/45/17 Yokohama S-Drive (-2 camber)
R: 17x9 +12 245/40/17 Yokohama S-Drive (-2 camber)

Wheel specs were good, but ride height and tire sizing was off. I picked up Johnny's CR Kais and they are being repainted right now. I want to order new tires that fit better and go lower this spring with the full kouki aero. Here is what I am thinking:

F: 17x9 +17 215/45/17 (or 215/40?)
R: 17x9 +12 (5mm spacer) 225/45/17

Interested to see what you guys think. I know it won't be super cambered/aggressive, but I want to keep it semi-streetable with some grip out back. Power is going to be going from about 220whp to 290whp in the spring as well. I think those sizes should fit pretty well from what I have seen in this thread.

Well first off, if you have the same size and offset, and a smaller tire, you realize it's not going to be as flush, right?

I would recommend 215/40 in the front and 225/40. 45-series sidewall looks goofy if you're going to want to go low. You might need bigger spacers though, depending on what camber you run. You're going to need at least a 5mm spacer in the front and a 10mm in the rear to make up for the thinner tire if you're wanting to rock the same camber specs/same tire flushness.

Or you could just rock a 225/40 up front and a 235/40 in the rear, which would give you a little more grip and less space to fill up with spacers.

Probably what you're going to want to do is just fit the tires and wheels with no spacers, adjust to your lowness and camber specs, and then figure out which spacers to run.

Good info, thanks man. And yes, I realize a smaller tire will be less flush. I would be fine with running a bit less camber than the -2 degrees I was running. My rear tires got smoked in about 7k miles, but I must have gotten a bad alignment. I wouldn't expect -2 camber to eat a set of tires that fast without the toe or something being off.

Yeah they definitely shouldn't go away that fast. That's near stock alignment specs on some cars, the tires should last close to their rated length.

Make sure they dial in zero toe this time.

i really liked my nittos when i had them, good tire, lasted a while and was decently grippy.

225/45 looks like balls imo, i'm going to be running that on a 9 just because i got a pair for $40.

i'd go with a 215/45 front and rear, so at least you can rotate them if you burn the rears down too much...

225/40's on 17x8+8

I would personally suggest 215/45s up front and 235/40s out back because they're almost exactly the same tire height.

OR do what Ed said and run 215/45s all around...but since your rear is already set up to accept a 245/40 I would say run the 235/40.

-2 shouldn't kill your tires in 7K either. I am pretty sure AP2 S2000s run -2.5 factory.

for what you pay for them... if i found some for cheap i'd prolly grab them but... other than that i will never run them. But i'll be honest this opinion is based of driving turbo FWD cars with them... so yea... maybe its a lil biased .. idk give me some maybe ill change my opinions

im still in never ending debat my self of what to run on the front with my 17x9.5s... everyone keeps saying 215/40 or 235/40(replaces 225/45 i have on them)

The front fenders are resting on the tires and it drift just fine like that.

front and rear fenders are Bmagic 30mm front and 50mm rear bowed
out.

And the reason for the big gaps betreen the bumper/fenders/hood is because with the increased angle from modded knuckles i was rubbing on the frame rails so i spaced my fronts out 15mm and my tires are litterally pushing my fenders out.

lol, how does that "drift just fine??"
