make the engine top dead center according to your timing marks. pull the cap off the distributor and make sure if it is pointing at cylinder 1 (sounds like your off a tooth) if it isn't pull the distributor out and make it point at cylinder one. Sound to me like that is your problem

Couldn't you be 180 degrees off with the way you just told him to do? Or 360 degrees rather haha?

I had the exact same situation. I was off a tooth. I had to bite the bullet and take off the timing cover again to make sure the dots on the chain all line up to the gears. After doing that on the first click, started running like nothing happened. It's a pain but gotta do it. GL.

If you look at the picture above. Look at the mark on all 3 gears matching up to the darker gray chain link. I made the mistake of almost all being aligned and didn't run just like your situation. If I advance to full it would somewhat run but horrible and have to give it gas to keep it alive.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me.

Are you getting cranks but its not turning on? sometimes you hear a whop?
Could be wet spark plugs after so many times trying to turn it on. Pull them out and check for sparks.

Timing for KA is pretty hard.. the marking are suppose to be a little tilted and both the cams are not suppose to be at the same points. Look around for the timing positions.

A motor completes its 4 strokes ie intake compression power exhaust in 2 full rotations (720 degrees) so it is possible to be 360 degrees off, but not 180 (well as long as you're not an idiot) TDC is the #1 pistion all the way up w both valves closed in preparation for the intake stroke, not in preparation for the power stroke where both the intake and exhaust valves stay shut. But yaa man you're proly a tooth off lol end rant

^Yea.. i flooded my engine trying to get the timing right so many times. In the process I had to change the distributor, spark plugs, and coil pack.. and brand new coil packs are expensive!
