Alot of my friends didnt like GT3 because it was so grueling. It got boring after a while, but the realism factor is great. Ill still buy any GT series =].

Yes GT4 is allegedly going to have online play. I also read a rumor that there will be an option to download new cars and test drive them before downloading. I think that would be badass to download a "drift pack" with all the soarers, cefiros, and other obscure cars that don't usually make it into games.

go here and read all sorts of rumors:

http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/f-55.html

oh, I went to our barnes and noble to see if they had the EVO magazine, but they only had the May issue and these pictures are from the June one, I guess the person that scanned them in was from the UK

i did.. but i replaced it with a new one since i bought the 2 year replacement plan from bestbuy
ps1 and ps2 has a bad case of weak lense..
the syndrome starts after 1.5~2 years of owning/using it..
i knew about this before i bought my ps2 two years ago, so i went ahead and bought the 2 year replacement plan

Wow, I hadn't heard that Gt4 was even in development yet! Thanks for the info!

Hmm.....Christmas '03 release date.... 8 months from now...

I've owned GT3 for something like 2 years now, and I'm still only 24% done with it. Guess I better try and finish it before the next one gets released....

This is all very bad news gents....don't you see! I will lose my life again. Endless hours trying to get further, win another car, or beating that da_mn GT40 with a underpowered car. This marks the end of my marriage. The addiction is too great with GT

I hope the people at Poly Digital are happy with themselves

Ok, I thought I'd be a nice guy and give up some more info on GT4.

IGN.com had a Q&A session with the maker of the game and he said they wanted to push the limits of the PS2. Plus this would be the last game in the series to be played on the PS2 I guess they will keep making sequals if the game sells, but they will be on PS3

GT4 looks great, I have seen some pics of old cars, but didn't identify them. But they also have a New York City stage, which has time square and such.

This will take up a lot of my time of course, but I hope replays are a lot more advanced so I can get a lot more angles when I make vids.

I still have a vid on my hard drive, just too lazy to upload, maybe I'll do it this weekend.

some more stuff I found on a forums.
Here is a pic of the new steering wheel, momo shift knob
http://www.businesswire.com/photowire/pw.051403/bb4.jpg

Someone also had thier car used in the game and he did a write up on what happeneed and the cars he saw. Kinda lengthy but gives you a little insite on the first part of the process they go through.

Quote:
Just to let you know the updates...

As you may know from my earlier posting a couple of months ago, I was chosen to have my VW featured in the new GT4 game.

My car is a 1966 VW Beetle with it's original 1285cc engine... hardly a supercar, but nice to see that Sony are interested in having some of the more simpler cars in the game! I've been told that you can start with a car like this, and then "upgrade" the engine/suspension etc as you win more money. Sounds cool.

The venue for the photographic event was at Millbrook proving ground in England (Bedfordshire), so it was over 3 hours drive for me, living on the South Coast. Unfortunately when I got there the security searched my car for cameras, so they all had to be handed in, so I don't have any pics... SORRY! Car manufacturers use Millbrook to test prototypes and yet-to-be-released cars, and they want these to remain "out of sight", so to speak, hence the camera ban. (I saw several cars, obviously Vauxhall/Opals covered in disguised black tape )

I arrived at the end of the third and last day of the photographic shoot, so most of the more exotic cars had already been photographed.

Basically, I had to drive my car to various areas of the track where various photographic and audio sessions were carried out on it.

At first I had to park in an open space where the photographer took hundreds of photos of my car, including things like the indicator housings from all angles! The guy spent at least half an hour constantly photographing every aspect of my car from all angles with a digital camera. The then stuck a box on the door of my car which sampled the exact paint colour! They also took a photographic sample of the weave pattern on my seats, so it looks like it's going to be a very accurate model when it's finished for the game! Other photos included the speedometer, fuel gauge, dashboard, carpet... basically everything.

After that was the "long distance" photos. I parked my car in a red box marked on the ground and my car was photographed on the side and rear from long range (several hundred metres away). After that I turned it around and they photo'd the front and other side.

Then was the lighting and "3D effects". Inside a big tent half my car was surrounded with cameras (I guess with half my car photographed they could just mirror the image to get the other half). They then photo'd my lights, front: off, dipped, full beam, rear: off, on, brake (with main lights off and on). Also the indicator off and on at the front and back. Even the interior light!!!!

After that was the sound. They recorded my car in the following:
horn
starting up
revving on and off (like: vvVVvvvvVVVvvvvVVVvvv)
idle
1k RPM
2k RPM (etc)
They did this twice for the engine lid being open and closed!
(rather confused the sound guy who didn't realise these old VW's had a rear mounted engine, so he had to move all his sound gear

There might have been another process in amongst all that, but I've forgotten right now... and the paperwork is at home

Also, to top the day off a test driver too us for a ride around the testing circuits in a Citroen Saxo VTS... over the steep bumps, around sharp corners etc, and also around the testing "bowl" at ~135MPH. (then said that he shouldn't go any faster as it's a customers car )

So, cars? What others were there? Like I said at the beginning of the post I arrived at the end of the last day, so most of the exotic stuff had already been done.

Ones I saw were:
1966 VW Beetle 1300 (mine!!)
1949 VW Beetle Standard
1958 VW Beetle
1980's Scirocco
Golf (GTI??)
VW Passat W8
Two new TVRs, brought from the factory! (one prototype in metallic brown, the other car was in fancy multicoloured changing paint)
Morgans (again brought from the factory) - Aero8 and the old style one
1970's TVR (Vixen?)
AC Cobra (new one)
1972 Jaguar XJ6
Bristol 402
There were some fast fords, Cosworth's and the like, as well as some "kit cars", but the exact details I can't remember as they left fairly early.

I'm afraid that's all I can remember for now, but if there's any more I can think of I'll post them! Over three days there was about 130 cars. I *did* meet the guy who said he would be responsible for creating my VW on the computer - I was gonna give him my email address, but he disappeared

BTW, there were a couple of journalists there too - one from Top Gear Magazine (who took a photo of me in my car) and another from FHM.

Anyway, hope that satisfies your curiosity for a while

They told me the game's due for release late in 2003.

Finally a gearbox , and loads of cars

what do you mean by non-asshole ai?
The article I took that out of was from a Q&A session with Polyphony Digital's President and Producer Kazunori Yamauchi.

as for the AI, I dont know about you guys but when ever my tires start to wear out the computer cars swarm in for the kill and spin me out. In GT4 is says the AI will be more considerate, and not just blindly follow the perfect racing line.

Damn, thats gonna be a lot of cars to play with! Now I'll have no life when it comes out. Oh well. I'll keep looking for more links to keep everybody happy until it comes out. Plus it gives me something to do during the summer.

Anybody heard if they're gonna have body kits you can put on the cars?? If not, who wants to start a petition saying we want bodykits, tire marks that stay, and various other stuff?? I would yet I'm not to good at making em.

No body kits, but i don't know for sure, takes too much time the way they make cars, and they would have to find cars with kits to screen.

How did you come across those photos, I thought they were only going to release the ones that were at E3. They normally keep photos like that under wraps to surprise us when we play it. Oh well, we have more pictures to look at, so post on.
