Man none of you guys have any clue about the rotary. You are all just fanboys who hear that they blow up and jump on the band wagon. Any motor will blow if not taken care of and neglected.

To op: Looks like a pretty nice car..has an upgraded top mount, and thats all i really see. Who did the motor? Did the kid do the work? Did you do a compression test prior to the trade?

Thumbs down

Well, I can speak from experience...

As someone who owns an 80's sports car (Z31 Turbo) and having gone through headache after headache with it...let me advise AGAINST this trade. Stick with your S14, which is or has the potential to be fast with far less invested. I guess it really depends on what kind of car you want/need. I like Turbo II's, but I wouldn't want one over an S14 for my DD.

Get what you want, though. Don't trust the internet for your decisions

As much as I like FC's, this is definitely a bad trade, unless he gives you money on top.

looks clean. hopefully you comp tested it before you trade. and get documentation for the rebuild... alot of the self professed rotary specialist shops do shitty work. all bets are off if he did it himself.

So many people saying shit about getting the S5 tails... I'm reading it going, "wtf, it already has S5 tails." They're just not polished. lol
Noobs.

And for everyone wondering why he would "go backwards" with a trade like this, read some of his other threads. His S14 is a gigantic heap of shit. He's said it himself on many occasions.

Couldn't tell you. I'm supposed to drive the s14 out where he lives next week so we can check the two cars out a little more closely.

I don't play that. Now, if I had posted my s14 for trade and someone offered a car, I could possibly ask for the trade plus cash... but offering my car for his (mind you my wheels and sound stay with me), I'm not interested in money. Blue book values mean nothing to me. If we're both happy with what we get, then its a good deal regardless of what the value may be.

Relible, yes my s14 has been up until this one string of problems I can't figure out. Sexy? Not so much anymore. I thought it looked good, and now I'm getting bored with it. Good MPG? Haha.. not lately. Easy to repair? Yes. Newer... duh.

Notoriously unreliable? Any car can be unreliable, just take care of it. I like the style of the FC. Hard to repair? Dunno, but its still a motor, and it still uses nuts and bolts, so it can't be THAT bad.

Like I said, I dunno who did, but I'm gonna listen to the car a little, maybe get to putt down the street. And yes, I would take care of it.

Not that its a giant heap of shit, I just get really frustrated with it, like the car has a jealous personality and every time I look at another car it wants to shit on me out of spite. Really the only problem with it is its damn problem of bogging and misfiring... its just a bitch trying to troubleshoot it. The only problem after getting it running 100% right is that dent, and just general age related noises like the rear deck rattling over bumps...

I told him I'm going to fix that problem though before we trade. I'm not one to sell or trade something that's not in good running order in all honesty, especially if what I'm trading for DOES run. That would make me feel like shit. Even if my s14 is worth more NOT running, I'm not gonna trade it like that. I really don't see how this is a bad trade; my wheels and some of the sound is coming with me. Mind you, I gotta find some wheels to put ON the s14 before I can trade lol.

rotaries are really not as bad as theyre cracked up to be.

i went from FC to s13 for the same reason youre going to FC.
i was bored of it and it was a non turbo. i wouldnt be happy with it unless it had a little more power with a turbo but i after one failed attempt to boost it i realized i just couldnt afford it on my budget.

you'll be fine, really.
dont overheat it, EVER.
dont up the boost without more fuel.
dont throw a full exhaust and intake and some mods without giving it more fuel. you'll be overboosting and running lean. these things NEED a perfect/rich AFR at all times. they cant take a few knocks and keep going like a junkayrd turbo setup on a ka with a janky pretuned ecu can. all it takes is one knock to fuck up an apex seal and one good overheat to fuck up coolant seals and warp shit.
theyre very picky but as long as you treat it right it'll be fine.

nothing beats the sound of a turbo rotary.

also, its going to beep and buzz at you alot from under the dash, get used to it.

Take care of it like you're supposed to take care of any car, but take a lot more caution modding it, cause they're picky.
Exactly. Rotaries still run around today because they've been taken care of, like any other car.

So? Who says its a better deal for him? Just because you have something against rotaries, the s14 is somehow almighty?

I think its a pretty even swap, honestly.

12k on motor, not on rebuild, came out of a wrecked 88 10 AE turbo II.
car has perfect compression in both rotors and car has been taken care of.

oh and fyi, i also own an s13,
if you havent ever owned a rotary you have no right to talk, they are in a class all of there own. 50/50 weight distribution and no redline on a turbo vehicle is by far one of the most fun things you will ever drive.
like most have said here, if you take care of them they last just as long as other motors, the motor in the car kept stock the way it is, will more thaon likely last another 100k miles as long as it is properly cared for.
the body on the vehicle is also straight, as far as all this nonsense of rotaries being timebombs, just a rumor, all it will ever be, the cars 21 years old and will still run from a stock sr20 all day long.

I can't read this thread. Don't LS a turboII! Eeeeek. Sell it to someone who would need it and use the money to buy a NA FC to LS that.

I <3 the LSx in a FC/FD but not to turboII's. Theyre so hard to find in KS. :'(

No way would I molest a T2 that way. In fact, I don't plan to molest it much at all for a long time.
