s14 Unanswered 5spd swap question

14) Install Mounting Plate Install the M/T mounting plate on the Bellhousing. Line it up with the dowels.

Mounting plate or sandwich plate or adaptor plate... i have heard it called all of these, yet when I look at the exploded view on nissan trans it does not show such a thing. Wondering if this is really needed or if its just a thin sheet of metal that can be discarded.

Working on s14

If you have it, put it on.
Helps keep dust and shit out of the trans.
especially if its a daily.

You hear guys running without them once in awhile.
But its about as smart as running without a filter on your intake.
eventually, somethings gonna go bad,....real bad.
lol
