Sounds like my problem sometimes. My starter has been shit for the longest time now. I have one sitting in my garage but I don't want to install it because its a PITA.
My's starter is shot so when I try to turn it over the solenoids don't catch and it wont start cranking the engine, so I have to try to start it a few times then it starts up. I'd imagine its one of your solenoids on your starter. But don't quote me on that. I will find out for sure once I replace my starter. |

Try hot-wiring to the starter. That will tell you if you have a bad ground. My friend's gf's 200sx had the same problem, and it was a ground wire with a break in it.
