I had a Cobra 32v with a 2.1L Kenne Bell and it would make full boost at 1500rpm. The torque is sick.

Newer 03-04 Cobra engines are all forged from the factory. You can get a used drivetrain packae from an 03-04 Cobra for about $5k that will do 550rwhp to the tires with only minor external modifications, and will do it for 200K miles without blinking an eye. And that drivetrain makes power everywhere. Older Mustang engines were configured to do 400rwhp safely but beyond that they start to need aftermarket pistons and rods. Stock cranks are fine, 2 valve heads need porting but the 4 valve Cobra heads flow massive amounts of air stock.

I am surprised that people don't swap more forged 96+ mustang engine setups into 240s, since they are very accessible, mate up directly to T56 transmissions and forged setups can make rediculous amounts of power. Turbocharged 32v Cobra engines can make 800rwhp+ on stock internals.

I definitely would like to do the 4.6 swap or even the newer 5.0 but this HO 5.0 drivetrain was free and Im using oem mounts. explorer engine mounts and brackets and automatic 240sx trans crossmember.

Reason why you dont see so many is because they are overhead cam motors and that makes them big, not easy to work on or easy to work on in car or fit in car like S chassis, push rod motors fit alot better and are easier and cheaper to work on

No cruise control? Yah I enjoy stamping out aluminum, plasma cutting, and belt sanding a piece of aluminum into the shape I have in my mind.
