Tail Lights Dont Turn Off

Since i bought my S13 back in 09, there has always been an unidentified drain on the battery, so i had a quick disconnect installed on the battery to counter that. While i was overseas my buddy installed my new S14 SR into my S13, but every time i connect the battery, the tails come on automatically. The key isnt turned at all, just power to the battery. Ive checked the fuses, and gone over all the grounds i can find, but i havent found a solution yet. My next plan is to pull up the carpeting and check to see if the wiring may have become frayed or damaged, but before i do that i thought id ask in here. Also, i looked into the button behind the brake light, and it seems to be fuctioning fine. Reverse lights dont come on, ever, but the running/brakes do whenever i attach the battery. Thanks for any help guys.

Do they come on as if the brake pedal is depressed? Or just running lights staying on?

There's a little button on the brake pedal that turns the lights off when there is pressure on it. If the little plastic piece falls off then the brakes lights stay constantly on.

If they are on as if you were pushing the brakes it's the little rubber behind the switch on the brake pedal

like everyone was suggesting, most likely the actuator on the brake pedal not making contact with the switch. i just double side taped 2 pennies do it. you will know what everyone is referring to once you get in there and look.
