You heard right... it was an old style car, looked an enormous amount like an old Supra only smaller. Said 200sx so it was a 2 liter, and said turbo on the tags... these were not aftermarket tags or anything... I am just wondering, anyone have a site with the history of the 200sx or the silvia or even the sentra that could point me in the right direction? I would say this car was a 78-86 or so, somewhere in that styling area... I am perplexed by this, and if anyone knows anything please help me out here!

The s12 - a/k/a Gazelle came w/ a turbo in the US. I believe it was the FJ20et(?). Someone will know. I also know the history is one some Aussie site that gives a history of the car.

Here's some background. I also thought that the FJ20det was available in North America? anyone?

Um... none of those cars look like it at all! IT was a HB, with flip up lights. It was prolly one of those engines... but I can't find a pic of the car anywhere!

Yep they came in hatchback too. The FJ would be for Japan or Australia

I made a mistake in my previous post though, it would be a CA18ET, the extra .2 liters is only in the non-turbo version. The turbo 200sx was sold in the US from 01/84 to 06/86 when it was replaced with a non-turbo VG.

Can you imagine that, the predecessor to our cars came with an optional V6!

Yah, it was the same 3.0 the 300zx had in it! (these models were only sold in the states, from what I can tell) I used to own a 200sx (hence my name) 2.0l N/A engine, the turbos were 1.8l (not sure of the engine code #s) It was the 'truvk' engine. Twin spark plugs. (yah, a 4cly with 8 plugs! )
Funny you should say it looks like a supra... I got pulled over once and the cop asked me "this a toyota supra?" hahahahaha..
