Gotta pay to play with this motor, people often look past this when starting and then we end up with lots of part outs

Lol i know this.. Haltech platinum sport 2000, id 1300, ball bearing gen 2 6266, and much more all purchased new. Ive lost count how much money ive dumped into my car. I spared almost no expense cosmetic and performance wise. Im just bored of the chassis and want to put the swap in something nicer than a 1991 240sx.l ive had the car for nearly 5 years, driving it around with the 2jz for 2 & 1/2 years.

Ok sorry for the long break there, i had an injector go out. Decided to just switch over to top feed and an aftermarket radiator. Starting upping the boost and at about 16psi i couldnt get traction in 3rd gear which made tuning difficult. So, i got some drag radials amd now it hooks, boost is at 20psi!

Anyway its still running hot after driving down the interstate for 30min and i have to pull over, especially if i get on it. I got rid of the crappy fan bracket/shroud and put the fans directly on the radiator, this seemed to slightly help. Added more cooling panels, and put on a turbo blanket which helped as well. Temps are still creeping, takes longer but still. I guess now its time for better fans since i just run dual 12in (?) Fans i got off summit.

Do these dimensions match your radiator?

This is what I have, but the SPAL's move more air. The problem with that particular SPAL setup is that it's not a slim setup.

Does anyone use the B3 plug for the 2jz-gte vvti ecu? Looks like everything is for the automatic transmission other than pin 12 and 16, or would you recommend depinning automatic stuff?

Pin 12 is Exhaust Bypass Valve
  • This pin is used to control the VSV which is used to open / close the Exhaust Bypass Valve that is a component of the sequential turbo system. The Exhaust Bypass Valve allows exhaust gas to pre-spool the rear turbocharger prior to it coming online as part of the sequential turbo system.
  • This pin is connected to Ground inside the ECU as required to turn the Exhaust Bypass Valve VSV ON allowing pressurised intake air to open the Exhaust Bypass Valve. One side of the VSV should be wired to this pin and one side of VSV should be wired to battery voltage (Main EFI Relay switched).

Pin 16 is the Fuel Pressure Up Vacuum Switching Valve
  • This pin is used to control the VSV which is used to increase fuel pressure during hot soak starting.
  • To reduce the possibility of fuel vapour formation in the fuel rail during starting from hot soak conditions the Fuel Pressure Up VSV is used to increase the fuel rail pressure for a short period of time after hot soak starting. This pin is connected to Ground inside the ECU as required to turn the Fuel Pressure Up VSV ON which vents the fuel pressure regulator reference to atmosphere resulting in increased fuel rail pressure. One side of the VSV should be wired to this pin and one side of VSV should be wired to battery voltage (Main EFI Relay switched).

You're using a koyo rad right? Any modifications to make it fit?

No mods at all. It actually fits the S14 koyo perfectly.

If you're on a highway you have air assisting your fans, so the fans can't be your problem, at least speaking highway, if you got all the bubbles out, good thermostat and pump, than you should start thinking about head gasket, but you may already know that.

I have a new pump on a fresh engine, no sign of air pockets and im not losing any coolant so i doubt its a HG. I run pusher fans and theres also a 4in thick precision FMIC out front, so the air on the hwy probably doesnt get thru the radiator so well. Its gotta be the cheap pusher fans or the KA koyo radiator ... or both.

Have you put an air damn under the car to drive air up in to the radiator?

^^^ he already knows what his problem is. Replace the KA radiator for one for an SR so that it forces the coolant to utilize the entire surface area of the radiator and ditch the pusher fans... I can't believe how many people are still trying to run pusher fans and then complain about them

Personally I've never liked the pusher fan setup, i'd rather get as close as it comes to a supra setup with cross flow rad. and no pusher fans, like you said, fmic plus pusher fans on hte way, theres gotta be some kinda hesitation there, I'm currently on the middle of my build (2JZGTE s13 hatch btw) i'll be posting pics up once I figure out how haha.

If you use a ka radiator you don't need that donkey dick of a cross over. Just trim the pipe so it's not bending that way.

Haven't had any over heating or any cons of using a mishimoto ka rad. I had to switch rad caps to my old greedy one cuz it's stronger.

That's all fine and dandy That's what I'm doing now but when it's cold out it doesn't like that idle. So I have to hold the gas until it warms up for a min.
