I read somewhere that '91 cams are better than the other 240SX's cams. Is this true? If so, would there be any noticeable gain if I put them in my '92?

Take a look at the FAQ Below.

There is some sort of usefull information. Im not sure how much gain there would be on the 92, but Im sure its just a little more gain on the s14's.

hmmmmm...Altima intake and '91 240SX exhaust.
Does anyone know the cam specs for a '92 so I can compare?
Also, would those cams cause the idle to be rough, and would any other work have to be done to accomadate the longer duration?

There will be no bad idle. You can even get Don Nimi's Stage II Cams from PDM Racing and still have a good idle.

The 91 Camshafts were the best out of all the year for the 240SX, so for other DOHC cars it can be considered an upgrade. Although Im not sure how much of a gain it is on the 92-94 engines. 95+ will gain about 15hp.

What's the difference between the 91-94 240SX KA engine and the 95+ 240SX KA engine? They all use different cams but are rated the same in power output.
If my '92 KA ever gives out, would a '95+ KA be better to replace it with? (I think I'll stick with the KA so I can stay in SCCA Street Prepared category)
And again, does anyone know the cam specs for the '92's?

I dont know the spec for the 92 cams sorry.

The 95+ KA Engine has better Pistons and Connecting rods. You can run 6-7 PSI on a 91-94 KA engine and you can run 10-11 PSI on a 95+ KA.

When I find a junkyard willing to sell me the intake cam out of a trashed Altima...what all do I need? Just the camshaft? And which year 240sx is the correct one to get the exhaust cam from? the 91 or the 93....Are you simply able to just drop the 2 new camshafts right in w/o another major work? Thanks!
