I'd get a "Welded" DYNOMAX UltraFlow; $65.00 muffler. You'll like the exhaust note, and you can paint it BBQ high temp flat black to match the rest of the underneith of the car. This is a straight through muffler with stainless steel roving mesh for sound supression. Large enough to not be loud and supress axhaust drone noise. Then add a tip of choice. I personaly would add a single 3"to 4" tip from the material the shop makes your piping. Paint it all black and have a real sleepy looking car.

If you want shiny and like to clean your muffler alot, get the UltraFLow Stainless Steel version; $103.00. Both sound the same. Deep and toned to perfection.

Make sure you get 2.25" - 2.5" piping made from your catalytic back. Also don't dare pay more than $100 for the job. MY favorite Exhaust place is MIDAS. You'd be suprised what they can do with raw piping.
So far you are in the hole $165.00 - $203.00. If the muffler is too loud, which it should not be, then add a presilencer. A round welded Dyno max ultraflow just after the cat; $40.00. Now your in the $200.00 range. Still under any namebrand price.
Try here...
Ultra-Flo Welded Muffler
2.25" part#289-17216 center in/center out $62.99
2.5" part# 289-17218 center in/center out $62.99
both are 14" long (plenty of room)
Again if it is too loud...
2.5" part# 289-24215 4" round muffler 12" long $31.99

If you want shiny...
289-17282 = 2.25" offset inlet/center oulet 14"long $103.99
289-17283 = 2.5" same thing.
Check WWW.JEGS.COM
for latest pricing and pictures.
Whatever you do , stay away from MAGNAFLOW, Edelbrock, and flowmaster. Those are some loud MO FO mufflers. I've had all 3 on various cars. Something I pay close attention to is exhaust note.
A nice tip....
520-2209 2.25" to 4" 10" long or..
520-22010 2.5" to a 4" 10" long
both are resonated $31.99 Resonated will quiet it down even more.
DO some measurements of your stock system first to see if you can hold that much length of yip and muffler. I'd say 2" past the bumper, so 8"of tip and 14" of muffler = 22" almost 2 feet.
I'm a stickler for detail when it comes to exhaust. And yes I sound like a dynomax REP., but I have tried so many mufflers, and the DYNOMAX always sounds better, and is cheap.

stock piping is 2" I beleive. Going to 2.5" is a 20% increase in Gas velocity volume. Basically you would be uncorking your exhaust. Not to mention the straight through muffler as oposed to the stock baffled muffler. I'd lbeleive at least 10RWHP
Considering the GReddy PE kit uses 2.3" piping and a 4" internal core muffler. Results would be about the same. The difference is you'll be having crush bends made instead of mandrel bends. But the difference is minumal. You'll fell the definate kick in HP near the 3500-7000rpm mark. The engine will have a better throttle response, and be reving easier and a noticable amount faster.
You'll like it.
When you get the exhaust made, consider advancing your timing for a crisper throttle response. At least 3-5 degrees advance. you'll need a timing light to do it properly.

I'll definately agree with the exhaust and advanced timing tip from Mr. Rose. I have 2.5in pipe from the cat back ran into one of the fireball style mufflers from PDM-Racing.com and at 3500RPM it gives you a nice kick in the pants. I went about 4 degrees advance on my timing and you can definately tell the difference.
