I see "racing pedals" everywhere, but I've never seen any that actually replace the old pedals, they just go on the top... Do they make actual pedal replacements?? The other type seems really cheezy to me

That makes me mad too. Im still not sure if all of them are that way or not. I will soon find out I ordered some Sparco Smart Racing Pedals. If you are to get some, look around at the good companys like Sparco or Momo. If anyone makes pedals that just dont attach to the old ones they would make them.

Here is a pic of my new pedals, I will let you know if they replace or snap on to the old ones or not.

the over the top ones will helps u toe heel with less work to your car....
if u want u can weld on your own pedels

Heel and toe is a technique in autox where you have you heel on the brake and your toe on the throttle and you match your revs while changing gears while braking in/out of a turn and then lay on the throttle while existing the turn. It can save seconds on your lap times. Also with our cars matching revs is important while autoxing because if you dont have it matched it will unblance your car and send you spinning.

Actually, it's usually toe on the brakes and heel on the throttle. That's why the top of the brake petal is angled to the right and the bottom of the accelerator is angled to the left. I've also heard of using the left side of your foot on the brake and the right side on the throttle...kinda rolling your ankle to blip the throttle when rev matching. The second technique would be easier for slew-footed ( \ / ) people like me. The first is better for pigeon-toed ( / \ )
and normal-footed ( | | ) people.

Hmm... I think i'll stick to my amature driving techniques for the moment, hehe

I use my big toe/2nd toe on the brake, and the rest of my foot rolls over on the gas pedal(ankle rotating)

Heel/Toe driving sets the balance of the car, and keep RPMs at more of a constant. you can add about 8-12mph to your favorite turn this way. you'll notice less bodt roll, and quite a bit of more driving confidense.
