Intake installation help

I'm getting ready to order my Injen intake with cold air extension and I was wondering if anyone had any installation tips. www.240sx.org has the installation instructions, but the link is dead. I was wondering how difficult it is to switch the intakes out--can I do it by myself or will I need someone to help me? I know quite a bit about cars, so don't let the fact that I'm female throw you off! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

it's VERY EASY! The picture in the installation manual says it all. it took me an hour, but it's because i wasn't familiar with the engine. It is a good way to familiarize with the engine, I got a lot of oh's and ah's and so that's what it does. if you run in any trouble, post here. good luck.

That's great. I like to see a lady fix her own car. There should be more like you. I'd be happy if some of the women in my family would simply check fluid levels on their cars. Save me alot of time.
Now you'll have to give us some detailed feedback on the Ingen set up. This will be my first bolt on when I get my s14.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. &nbsp;It's probably going to be at least a month before I do it--it's going to cost me around $300 to do it (thank you Mark for the www.enjukuracing.com referral). &nbsp;I need to get the money together and I also want to wait until the end of the rainy season--having an open air filter behind my fog light and all.

Someone e-mailed me in the 240sx.org and mentioned something about modifying the &quot;air temp sensor that sits behind the filter element in the stock airbox&quot; and then someone else mentioned that I would need to remove the plastic lining in my wheel-well. &nbsp;Do any of ya guys know anything about this?

I'm not too fond about cold air extensions. the seem a hassle, and not much power added over a normal one, if any. and $100 more for a short extension? that's asking too much.

the complicated parts of the installation were the vaccuum hose locations, make sure you keep the clamps. then there was this sensor attached to the bottom of the stock air box, the whole thing, including the rubber around the hole, must be removed and put into the MAF adapter included with the intake.

yeah i agree i love seeing girls work on there cars. i often see girls in modified cars and i am happy to see women finally support aftermarket modifications (#### now i need to find myself one of those, all girls i am with likes when i first meet them but then complain i waste all my money after a while) but a girl who is willing to learn is a real special gal cuz it just proves she is not ignorant like the ones i have met (YEAH, #### IT CHECK YOUR FLUIDS!)
but for the intake, just take off the old one and the box and just put in the new one. it is easy. the only problem yu might have it taking out the bottom of the old box and the piping, but just make sure everything is unbolted and just pull hard and use your head. i do not know how the S14 motor looks like, the S13 has a fan that blows the hot air back and i would stay away from the CAI (cold air intake), unless it is AEM, because AEM makes the best CAI in my opinion (YES THEY R MAKING ONE FOR THE 240SX, that is a common rumor, and i hope it is true)

well since cold air isnt worthwhile, which is better? AEM short ram or Injen?

AEM makes a short ram for 240sx?
i would go with Injen cuz they have always supported Nissan.... AEM is more of a honda thing plus i think Injen makes a better product for the 240sx and if u felt like it in the future u can always add a CAI

Something kinda funny: I was removing my front lower air dam lip today and I noticed that there is a large skid plate in the middle under my engine, and one smaller one on the passenger side that also somewhat serves as part of the wheel-well lining. But, there isn't one of those smaller ones on the driver's side and there are the holes for the bolts, just like the passenger side (like it was removed)! I also got to looking closer at my stock intake and a few bolts are missing where it connects underneath the front of my hood.

Gee, I wonder if the last owner had an aftermarket intake on the car!!!! :shocked: Maybe he's loosened up everything so it will be easier for me to get it off when I'm ready to do mine! :biggrin:

Loose bolts are good. Is you stock HUGE fender monted resonator still intact?

hahah many used cars have lost bolts... mine does.... u know sometimes when u work on your car, u always say ,ohh i forgot where those went, extra parts! =)

yeah it does help... but actually in the summer it is bad... it actually is worst.... cuz the metal intake pipe heats up.... but who cares.... it looks nice =) and also if u like u can add the CAI if u r really care that much...
yeah the Injen comes in blue.
i noticed the other day when it was 95 degrees out, my engine was hotter than other cars like the accord, civic, blah blha... but the engine works harder than the others...

I took my Cold Air Extension off my Injen Intake and didnt notice to much of a dif. If I were to order it all over again, I would just get the Injen Intake without the CAE. My next step to is to create a plate that will block all the engine heat from my intake.

I'm putting back the air scoop, to direct the air to the filter. This should help a little, I hope, just to have the engine breathe some cold air.

shoot, I hope K&amp;N makes &nbsp;an GenII FIPK system for the s14, those have a heatshield that blocks the air filter from the rest of the engine. so sorta like cold air, but the filter still sits underhood, and it uses plastic piping as opposed to aluminum. I think they make one for the S13 already

I am going to custom make a sheild for my s14, my intake is out in the wheel well right now and I dont want that for my turbo. I will document everything and do a nice little writeup for everyone.
