doubt any of us give a fuck (except ixfxi mike), since the whole "aftermarket headlight" thing isn't DOT approved anyways

You need a functional low/high beam. Those are just flood or spot lights... You will not find a low/high beam replacement that's small and rectangular. My suggestion with the hella or other bixenon or bi-led projector along with a rectangular fog or driving light on the inside still stands.

However, the housings and covers can just be sold without lights and the customer can choose what they want to put in there.

Anyhow- regarding silviaks2nr's lighting thought - which actually would give a s13 decent lowbeam light output, I did a quick chop on Streeters 180 to get an idea of how it could look. Of course the two square lights look rad, but why not improve its functionality and still look good. original photo w/ his abflug light chopped with a projector on the outside for low/high and a rectangular fog on the inside.

Jw speaker also makes a 90mm bi-led sealed projector unit. I have no personal experience with it but the light distribution and beam pattern look pretty good from images I saw.

This is an uphill battle. Not impossible, just improbable. I would have more faith if the poster ^ above me said he was building this, I would say that there is a much higher chance of success. But still, end product will have very high costs in addition to other issues that plague headlights of this design. |

I dont think the fixed headlight should be used as a base for greater headlight visibility. Just use Raybrigs on the standard pop-ups and they will be better then any of these fixed housings. Those who would just want the housings and covers alone, I can do that.

these were the ones I had seen that I think would best fit the size constraints
http://www.amazon.com/HELLA-H7102050...=ATVPDKIKX0DER http://www.amazon.com/HELLA-H7102040...=ATVPDKIKX0DER or some like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/131380801708...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT again, this was SIZE CONSTRAINTS only, not lighting output, or "legality", JUST SIZE. Its been hammered to death, that this is not the best direction to go for lighting output. These kind of headlight housings are for style primarily. Last edited by brndck; 04-08-2016 at 06:46 AM.. |

you're building a custom headlight enclosure so that you can see LESS than stock? for fucks sake. might as well just strap 2 of these fuckers in there and call it a day: style points. next time i rub one out i am going to shoot for style points. |

Im personally not digging the stuff posted so far, especially the rendering. I like these lights as made by the original designer. Please don't stray far away from that design and make something ugly...

based on this, I still think it would be best to let the customer decide what they want to put inside.

Why's the housing so thick? I'm sure you could thin it up and get more room to put lights that will have a good pattern in there

Theres too many people commenting on this that have no intention to buy. If there was a pre buy I would be willing to pay if it was what I wanted on my car. This seems to be common in the s chassis scene today. Everyone has an opinion, a question, and so on...but they have no intention to ever buy stuff. This is why I also absolutely HATE when I have to sell parts. If I had a dollar for every flake, window shopper, and so on, I would be rich.

I will be test fitting the original housings and my 3d printed housing tomorrow on someones hatch. Will update photos soon.
I have decided that I can always modify my model for other lights, but my main goal is to get some projectors into these housings as they functionally serve a purpose. If you dont want projectors, thats fine- I can remake the model to fit the bolt pattern of whatever kind of light you want to put in there.

Did some test fitting of the original abflug housings, and also the 3d printed housing.
I had a fellow enthusiast kindly let me use his car to test fit, as my coupe is kind of messed up on the front. His car is pretty straight from what I can see, so it was a good test. The original abflug lights didn't really fit that great, they could fit much better - which meant that my 3d printed housing was also off. Not horrible but not the best. Also decided that I will be ordering some Morimoto mini square projectors to fit inside. I think these should be nice, and I can design some shrouds that enhance the square shape. The owner of the car did some photoshop ideas, I thought this one looked interesting. Kind of like vw gti type lights inside, or similar. Morimoto mini bi-xenon square d2s projectors:
