Dupree Subframe Bushings

Just got done installing these on my S14 SE.

Easy job, 30mins tops....8 bolts are all you need to R&R.

I had a clunk sound making left turns coming from the rear...tried tightening everything I could, checked the springs for play, the top nuts, etc....

Decided to give the Dupree bushings a shot at $60. http://www.specialtyz.com/subspacers.htm

Excellent mod. A *little* more road hum, but you'd have to be listening for it. Definitely quieter than my AVS100ES tires though, which are starting to p!ss me off but only have 5k miles on them. A slight resonance at about 3500rpms, again hardly noticable and not really bad sounding...more mechanical than anything...if I had a radio installed I probably would have not even noticed. However, the car is actually quieter from lack of cluncks, pops and creakes coming from the rear. I was really surprised at all the missing little noises that I thought was just the trunk springs when I turned or crossed a rough patch of road.

Now handling is much better, the rear is solid and not floatly (for lack of a better description). It was easy to get the rear tires to let loose in moderate turns under acceleration whereas before it was as if there was a 2 sec delay before my car reacted to throttle input.

Banging off a U-turn at speed is a lot easier, the rear doesn't seem to sway at all like before (seemed like there was 1/2 to 1" of play in the whole rear, I am running 8/6 springs, whiteline sways so there shouldn't be). The car just feels more connected now, on the way home I was really impressed with the difference. It's not like adding coilovers or anything, but it is a great improvement if you have done other things or have worn out subframe bushings.

Just an FYI

Do you mean subframe spacers and collars? Bushings are a lot harder to change than that. You have to have the old ones pressed out and the new ones pressed in.

i was lookin at spl parts, but they don't have any subframe spacers. only subframe collars + bushings, and subframe tilt spacers which I have no idea of using

Im confused as to what you are looking for. The red things above are what the original poster installed and spl has those, except blue (i happen to own a set and love them) Spl also has complete aluminum bushings to replace the crappy worn out ones instead of using the lock collars, and finially have the spacers to adjust rear suspension geometry for lack of a better term. Thats all you can really do to that area of the car, are you missing something or am i?

can you PM me the name of your supplier? the rock seems good.

Why talk about anything S13/S14 related? it's all more than 2 years old?

He's talking about the spacers man, they've been out for years and numerous companies sell them right here on Zilvia...
