I'd definitely reccomend the 255s, but used the 245s should be easier to get. When goin used, you take what u can get.

Here's a pic of my 225s on a 14x6.

If I can pull that off you can definitely rock 255s on an 8. Especially since that's +3 compared to my 14s.

My swap is definitely closer to done. I just sold my LS7 heads and picked up a 404 ci L76, complete engine. I'm redesigning my dbw throttle linkage, and may have a line on a nismo LSD. It's still a snails pace though. At least my miata keeps me driving competetively in the mean time. I just met a guy who bought a stock 1.6L miata for $500, and slapped on some falken 615s (they are only $63 ea in miata sizes) and is having fun at the autocross. My wheels cost more than his entire car+new tires! I really admire the guys that get out on track and go fast. It's crazy how much difference seat time makes.

Thanks man, I would be alot happier with it if I wasn't going to have to repaint. But lesson learned.

Hey Guys,

I got a question, do you think I will be able to fit 18x10.5 +15 offset with 265/35/18 tires on rolled fenders in the rear?

btw, this is on a s14

So I don't need to pull the fender or anything and would be able to fit it no problem?

I have a quick question, what offsets would be best to run 275/40/17s all around on 17x9s with stock s13 fenders up front and 30mm overs on the back?

275s on a 9" in the rear I think would fit with something around a +25 through +35 on stock metal
275s on a 9" in the front of an s13 on stock metal sounds pretty hard to fit to me, but I'll let the gurus chime in on this one.

Mean while I just got these in this afternoon. Think of it as a miniature max tire setup

Specs (all four corners):

15x8+20et 225/45/15

Tein basic coilovers with camber at about -2* front and -1.5* rear and a roll.

I'm thinking about selling my 17x10 +18 RPF1's to buy 18x10.5 +15 RPF1's

I'm thinking 255/35/18 all the way around, similar to my setup now 255/40/17.

I know I'd most likely need a spacer but as of now I don't ( tein coilover clearance ), I'll likely need like a 5mm spacer.

what do you guys think? wheel offset calculator is saying extend 14mm=.55inches

18x10.5 +15 with the 5mm spacer = 10.5 +10, correct? that's over half an inch.. seems kinda difficult on stock fenders.

my setup now:

lol yeah can you believe that. I kinda like 6uls but the offsets suck and wtf is the point of a 9" wheel if theres no good tires for them? 225 is the widest street tire i could find with a reasonable sidewall so I found a wheel that would square them up. Now if they made a 245/40/15 or 255/40/15 I'd jump on that 15x9 bandwagon in a second. I do have a set of 255/40/17s waiting to go on the 240. I dont think I need anything much bigger for roadracing at my power levels, but it'll be a while before that cars up and running again.

There's a reason that band wagon is forming. The 949 wheels in 15x9 weigh 3/4 of what every other 15x8 weighs. And at under $200 ea are a hell of a deal. Emelio says that a 225 on a 15x9 is faster than a 225 on a 15x8. I believe him. I'm setting faster lap times on my new 15x9 949s with 225/45/15 Hankook RS3s than I was on my 225/50/14 Hoosier RS305s. Granted the Hoosiers were heat cycled to death and pretty old. But that's still pretty impressive.

I'll take a wider tire over a stretched tire any day. But if you're limited by tire selection (and a 225 is the widest tire that's available under 23" tall) then to get the most of it you're going to need to stretch it as far as is safe. With a 225/45/15 that happens to be a 15x9. Hankook reccomends going no wider than a 8.5" wide wheel for that tire. But I feel comfortable pushing it 0.5".

I'd love to get a 275/40/17 (25.6" tall) on there rather than the 225/45/15 (23.0" tall). But They are 2.6" taller. It would suck up all of my suspension travel to get back to my current ride height with the 275. Until somebody makes drop spindles for the miata the 15s will rule. Now if somebody would just make an extreme summer street tire in a 275/35/15 (also 23.0" tall)!

Hoosier makes a 275/35/15 22.6" tall. Anything bigger than 15" wheel on a miata just doesnt look right.

I got a ride in national level CSP miata wearing those in A6 compound. It braked and cornered so hard I thought my head was going to pop off my shoulders.

I hope to get a set for my SSM miata in a year or two, when A: I'm worthy, and B: can afford $1200 in tires that will last < 15 auto X events.

I never specified emilio's wheels in particular. I do kinda like 6uls, they look pretty damn good on my boys miata. Everyone now is copying his size and offsets, trmotorsports and rota come to mind. I'm simply not a fan of stretched tire. I know its not a big stretch but its a stretch and it doesnt apeal to me. As far as times, I guess we'll see how it does when we get back to autoxing this year if it ever warms up.

Hah yeah that would be scary. You have any idea what it would take to fit 275/35/15s on 15x9+36s? I got a friend that decided to return them because he swore he couldnt fit them. He ordered a set of 225/45/15s instead. Stock fendered car.

Doesn't look too extreme to me

I've already removed my fender liners, and had to do a slight roll/ almost no pull for my 225s/15x9s. I think that most people have an irrational fear of fender rollers. I disagree that the 6UL offsets are whack.

Sorry for the Miata MAX fitment distraction guys. Back on track.

Does anyone know how these will look?
265/35R18 on 18x10
295/30R18 on 18x11

Toyo R888

Rubbing is not an issue. I can always pound my fender out more. Just generally looking for how the tires will look on the wheels.

Will they be abit stretched? I try not to stretch them but I think 315 might to too wide for my car power wise. I am a stretched dude so I am not too familiar with fat tire set up. These will be my track daily set up.

265 on x10 will look pretty square on them, itll look good, and 295 -i THINK- should be square if not very little bulge but nothing too noticeable

Actually, I've got a picture for you that may change your mind on that karlitos. The 265 will be somewhat stretched. Here is the old set of wheels/tires. That's a run of the mill 17 X10 +35 on with a 265/40/R17.

I'd start with a 275 for a more square look.

Hope that helps

I guess it depends on the tire then. A friend runs 265 on x10 and it looks perfect. But then again the guy above wants to run 35 so that might stretch a little... But going 275 couldnt hurt.
