Uhm. My s13 (ka24de) just takes a couple extra cranks to turn over, and about 10 minutes to warm up completely.

Do you mean like in the snow?

My s13 is on coils in ohio... I just turned them to full soft when it started snowing and threw a bunch of weight in the back. This helped a lot... When the first snow hit I was already driving and It was probably the most paranoid I have ever been - the car was sliding around all over the place, and threatening to do so going in a straight line. Not to mention the brakes locked up if I so much as touched them - engine braking is a safe route to go.

If you're conscientious of everything that is going on around you then you should be fine.

I usually end up driving 10 mph slower than everyone else in the snow.

If you've got another daily driver, then I would strongly recommend it over a relatively lightweight rwd car.

you didn't figure that he meant 'Responds'?

this'll be the 3rd time i've driven my 300hp s13 in the snow. With snow tires and an LSD it goes fuckin anywhere. just dont drive like it's summer and you won't get into an accident. otherwise the car itself doesn't behave any differently. my piece of shit BOV doesn't like to open until the engine bay temps warm up though.

ignore him... he's always complaining on the forum. At 34, this is what happen when you've got erectile problem, you are bashing on the internet.

back to the topic...

I strongly recommend a stock suspension for our winter in Canada.

I drove a KA powered S14 5spd SE model with ABS on all season tires on stock suspension with some sandbags and it was fine, just as long as the snow wasnt too deep. It was manageable, but the SE is the heaviest but it does have a VLSD so that might have made a difference, this year ill be driving a base model S13 5spd with open diff, winter tires on stock suspension, no ABS and SOHC KA so we will see. I was 16 and 17 when I drove the S14 it was my first car and first 5spd car and I managed fine being an inexperienced driver.

When you have an erectile problem

Im sure he's actually helped this community more than you have.

OP my S14 even with no weight in the back handles better than my 98 civic in the snow.

When the civic loses traction its game over. The S14 just kicks its ass out, and when I let off the gas im going straight again.

Im driving on pure ice and 3" of snow, ill take a turn at 30, break the tires loose, and exit the turn perfectly.

I love it! But cant wait for spring!

we don't have much of a winter here

I use the same high performance summer tires all year long ( RT-615 current )

only time I try not to drive is in heavy rain, because of huge puddles

Snow tires, stock suspension, and maybe sandbags in the trunk and you'll be find.

plus sandbags have the added bonus of giving you something to use to make traction if you get stuck on a patch of ice.

+1 to snow tires

i tried driving s14 on all seasons on packed snow. car slides and pitches even going straight

fun? sure. but don't even pretend for a second it's practical for daily driving.

meanwhile my gf's cavalier was chugging along on all seasons with no problems.

I have an open diff, and its just fine.

A blizzard with 10inches of snow tonight with nothing in the trunk is going to put it to the test

Car starts up fine in the cold;

im using about 60-70% coolant
5w30 amsoil with an OEM filter
OEM thermostat
Automatic with a stand alone tranny cooler
Solid mounts

Same here, the only problem for me is I like to visit my friend in flagstaff about once a month, and I dont know if its even worth buying another set of tires I'd rarely use.

240sx is not fun in the snow, especially in the action packed new york streets. when i first got my s14 i had dropped my friend off at home and it started snowing. i was on the highway and was doing like 10-15 mph. i saw a late 90's maxima spin out right in front of me. then every time i come to a stop the car refused to stay in a straight line. i don't recommend it unless you really have to. i just take the public transportation when it snows!

Pffft. That called you are a shitty driver, and so is everyone around you.

Get some good winter tires, and dont worry about it.

Seriously, when it snows around here, I always drive faster than 3/4 of the people. I have more confidence in my s14 then I do in my mom's 2002 neon, which has toyo winters on it.
