The low-down on S13 Diff options?

So, I'm looking at diff options for the S13. I see that the J30 and N/A 300zx diff's won't directly bolt-up to the S13's frame. I read something about the S13 doesn't use bushings in a few spots, and requires a different cover to get the newer style diff to fit.

What I need to know, is will the newer style (J30,300zx N/A) R200 diff fit in the S13 non-lsd case? That way, I could just swap it in, and use my old case. I'm assuming that you would still need the S13 LSD halfshafts... but I can get those easily.

Travis

Yeah.. no need to swap internals.. just replace the diff cover. and use the appropriate axles with the correct flange (5-bolt or 6-bolt.)

Also, Any r200 diff will swap into an s13 housing.

This includes R32 skyline diffs, S15 helical diffs, Z32 NA diffs, J30 diffs.. anything with an r200. Just make sure you get the right output shafts and axles for the diff you use.

Pre 95 J30 VLSD (w/ 95+ J30 axles OR 180sx axles)
180sx VLSD with its own axles or pre 95 J30 axles
I'm going to fix/expand this:

Direct Fit:
91-93 240sx VLSD
89-90 JDM S13 VLSD
96-98 JDM S13 VLSD
JDM S14 and S15 VLSD (with S13 diff cover swapped on)
R33 Skyline (R34 as well?) VLSD (with S13 diff cover swapped on)
95-98 240sx VLSD (with S13 diff cover swapped on)
1/94+ J30 VLSD (with S13 Diff cover swapped on)

Fit with pre-1/94 J30 axles OR JDM S13 axles OR R32 Skyline axles OR 6 bolt vlsd output flanges OR shaved open diff output flanges:
90-96 NA Z32 VLSD
Pre 1/94 J30 VLSD
91 - 95 JDM S13 VLSD
JDM R32, A31 and others

Non VLSD oem options:

Z31 Turbo (non SS model) clutch type +4/87: works with open diff output flanges. Use S13 case and cover

R32 and R33 GT-R only, non V-Spec clutch type: uses 31mm 30 spline output shafts. 3 out of 6 bolts line up (sort of) when using skyline output shafts or R230v output shafts (Q45 and turbo Z32)

S15 torsen, 6spd turbo only: use S15 output shafts, late S14 VLSD might work, R230v might work with 3 out of 6 bolts lining up.

R34 torsen, GT-R non V-spec: unknown but I assume its 31mm 30 spline

350Z/G35 torsen: supposedly R205 according to NISMO japan website. Unknown fitment in a 240sx.

I think thats pretty definitive

Edited the s15 transmission listed. I'm sure it was a typo.
