either way YES. this person does need some help. its pretty damn clear somethings wrong in her life where she feels this is the right outlet for her pain.

great analysis and well put. yes, killing yourself is a lot different from going all out do such extensive body mods, and taking so much pics of the gore, AND then posting it on the internet.
but otherwise, I just see this as an example of how amazing the human body is in termns of coping with physical abuse. the damage done is obvious, but it's also likeley that this person isn't a doctor, and yet no infections of any sort. no fainting from such drastic loss of blood. it just never ceases to amaze me what the human body is capable of in some ways. which makes it all the more distasteful that someone like this would go out of their way to disfigure in themselves like this.
I think the worst damage isn't so much what these people do to themselves. It's their own body, and they're entitled to do what they want with themselves. However, posting it on the internet doesn't set such a good precedent. You get either young kids who think this is cool, and aspire to the same without thinking through, or you get other masochists who try to outdo each other and post more junk on the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if people began decapitating themselves or worse.
