How to properly do a DIY boost/vacuum leak test?

Ok so I put together a leak tester with the usual rubber coupling, pvc end, and valve stem from a hardware store. My question is what is the best way to run this test? Do I just bolt the tester down on the intake and pressurize it? Or do I need to unhook and plug other piping and/or hook the tester up in a different location?

attach the plug you made onto the intake flange of the turbo (unhook intake pipe).

this way you can make sure the pipe off the compressor doesn't leak.

set the pressure regulator on your air compressor to ~15psi (or whatever you plan to boost), and pressurize the system. you should be able to hear air rushing out if you have a leak. a spray bottle of soapy water also helps find them.

Well I wanted to hook it up on the end part of my intake to make sure the intake couplings also aren't leaking, but as long as I'm testing from the right place I'm happy. Thanks!
