s14 How to: S14 front bumper running lights

I did this for my friends old s14... very simple and looks OEM.
Adds dual filament bulbs to the front markers, much like S13, becoming turn signal and parking lights. Makes the front bumper lights come on with parking and driving lights, and also flash.

I did this long time ago with intentions to do write up for my website.. so i might have skipped a few details and forgot what was what.. etc. Found the pics on my hd and decided to share em.

You will need to grab the harness wiring from a S13, usually from a junk yard, take the front signal light plug, harness connector and some wiring behind that. It has 3 wires from it, one is ground, driving/parking light, and one is the flasher/turn signal wire.

Tools needed

Heres the original configuration, left is the front marker turn signal, right is the corner light marker.

You want to use the s13 wiring to tap into the positive of the other harness like so and thats it.

Solder and shrink wrap/tape em up.

Finished wiring

Finished product

*dont mind the hood, found it at the junkyard like that and we needed a hood at that time*

I would like to see this mod done to some nicer sick ass s14s hehehe..

I miss this s14 by the way.. had no front end, we pieced it together cheap.. auto, converted to 5spd w/ s13 parts, eibach sportlines found at junk yard etc.. installed elec fan, hks oil pressure gauge, b&m shifter etc.. was a fun car

Nice! so those bumper lights dont stay on, only for turn signals? just wondering; not a S14 owner..

This is a cool little mod that will add a little coolness for the front bumper lights. haha

Great Writeup.

doesnt that car have blown air bags and green interior? If so, i sold him some parts a year ago hah..

You dont need to go through the trouble doing all that. Just cut the neg from the blinker and tap it into the positve of the corner light. now that signal light will blink and stay on.

I don't think it was with pictures until now. I know I asked or someone else brought it up before.

I don't understand how this works because your description is ambiguous, especially about which end of the negative to use (when you cut a wire you get 2 ends) and how to "tap" the positive.

Can you provide a picture?

The S13 harness has 3 plugs; black, green yellow, and blue red. So I am sure he is using the S14 bumper bulb and the S13 bumper light harness.

It's a bad picture but you can see here...

The S13 harness black and green yellow wires match up to the wires on the S14 bumper light harness and you tap the blue red fron the s13 harness into the blue red wire on the S14 corner light.

For a second I was going crazy thinking there were 2 bulbs in the bumper light.

Good writeup.

IMO, i just dont prefer all those lights being on. seems cluttered, since the parking lamps (corners) are already there. what would be more useful is to wire it so the sidemarker on the bumper acts as a turn signal, flashing off when the front signal lamp is flashing on, but still retain its sidemarker duty. more for perpendicular traffic to see u are signaling or whatnot since the front signal lamp only indicates forward in relation to the car (only good for oncoming traffic to see basically).

I agree with your recommendation. The easiest way is to purchase a product called the Magic Blinker. I already posted about it in several other threads. You can use one single bulb with with filament and allow it to be used for both parking and signal.

The cost is about $20 per unit. You'll need two, one for each side.
