B&M short shifter?

Has anyone here experienced grinding when they shift with the B&M short shifter for s13?
I currently have a aftermarket(dono what brand) short shifter on...and it grinds occasionally when i shift into 1st, 2nd and reverse...i am sure its the short shifter because when i put the stock one back on...it doesnt grind...So i happened to take out the aftermarket short shifter today and found out the bushing was broken into 2 pieces...

heres a pic of what the short shifter has done...

i donno if this is normal wear...Right now, I am just thinking about replacing that crappy short shifter that I have with a B&M one.

I have the B&M waiting to be put on. I tried to install it but the 2 bolts in front of she shifter plate wont come off so I plan to put it in when i put in my other tranny. It looks like a nice unit as far as I can tell.
Are you talking about the white cap that goes to the bottom of the shifter that is broken?

I have it, it's great cost mor but is worth it. you can get to the t front bolts by dropping the trans crossmember and removing them from the top

Well, if that white cap (bushing) is busted, thats PROBABLY why its grinding into certain gears. Go to the local Nissan dealer and spend the 5 bucks on a new one, and see if that solves your problem.

Yeah, that wear is definately NOT normal. Even my 140K+ mile tranny still looks brand new.

have u have any other aftermarket shortshifter installed before the B&M? I dont think its the B&M thats causing the problems...
well, what i do is i would try to go into a few gears first (like 3rd and 4th...) everytime before i hit reverse...and the funny thing is that you will be able to shift into reverse smoothly without grinds.

I just hope that it is not a major problem... =(

He mentioned the OEM one won't work.

If you white bushing cracked, that mean the grinding down you see is caused by the metal on metal contact.

You might also have problems with the gears in your tranny.

It's a common problem with all high mileage transmissions. Not just 240's.

I have a B&M knock-off and it's been working good for about 2 years now I think. I would try changing the fluid in your tranny at the same time. It does wonders for shifting if the fluid in there is old.
