PBM Products

I have been riding around on my MR streets dumped for about 6 months now and am really getting annoyed by camber wear. I am looking into buying a full suspension kit (toe, traction, RUCAs, and tension rods) from Powered By Max but am a little skeptical because of their popularity. I do NOT want Megan arms because I have a friend that has had problems with them, mainly his inner tie rods. I want something moderate but not in the price range of JIC Magic, Tanabe, or Cusco. Anyway, getting to the point, how have your experiences with PBM been? I am in GA so PBM really isn't popular here and figured I should talk to people more oriented with them. I have noticed that the prices are outrageously cheap considering how great their arms look. Basically, am I better off going with PBM or SPL and please explain why? I am not really looking into any other brands because my stock toe rod is bent now from being to low and pretty much have no choice but to go with one of these because of their modified toe arms. Thank you.

Splparts.

Kuah has been in the game forever.

I don't think I've ever heard one bad thing said about him. EVER.

The customer service is by far the best within reason out there.

When updates come out, he makes sure that everyone is happy.

if you are going ultra low, then pbm is the only answer. if you live in an area where you HAVE to have more than 2.5 inch of ride height clearance or you don't want to be cali-low then SPL does make a great product and does offer great customer support.

Trust in Parts Shop MAX. They are legit and have great customer service. I run almost all of their suspension parts on my car. I've never had a problem with them and neither have any of my friends that use their parts.

it's not the same thing

they BOTH make great parts, it's like compairing a cheese burger from Islands to one at In&Out. They both are great, but they both have a different market.

sorry but I would have to strongly disagree. When looking at the rear multilink parts, it seems the only difference btwn PBM and SPL is in the toe and rucas. SPL seems ot have the more lowered friendly toe control arm while PBM seems ot have the more lowered friendly RUCAS.

but, the thing is seriously how low are you really going to go? you have to have your frame rail literally 1 inch off the ground to have a need to rock PBM parts.

Most of spl parts are low car friendly and supports adjustment for bump steer (look at spl the outer tie rods). Bump steer is an issue when you lower your car.

But, my opinion is SPL suspension VS PBM suspension, i'd say SPL. Though, I do recognize PBM as having good suspension products (judging from pics, looks like good build quality).

Though, if I had to choose between SPL and PBM i would choose spl for these reasons:

1. SUPER AWESOME CUSTOMER SUPPORT
2. ALways updating products and offering discounted price on updates.
3. Provides reasons for updates.
4. An american company (I want my money spent on American products instead of helping someone else over seas)

Honestly though, I think PBM is just marketing their stuff more towards drifters. SPL is positioned as a quality parts company for both drifters and time attack/racers.

oops, just noticed PBM has a gen 2 toe rod so i guess they have more lower car friendly rucas and toe control arms.

Actually I have a question, are PBM parts solid of hollow? SPL's solid

Well my car is pretty low. I'm on stock S13 SE's with 205/50/15 tires (stock profile is 60 or 65) and I'm tucking rubber. I will use my car for daily driving and for small non-competition track/drift events. With this in mind, I am still leaning towards PBM but does anyone else have any input?

i have all PBM arms on my car. I couldn't be happier. They have AWESOME customer service as well.

This isn't a knock on SPL arms though. They are quality as well. As are Battle Version arms.

they both make quality suspension components, you can't go wrong with either really.

I guess it comes down to a personal preference, for me it's SPL always.

SPL for me as well, except for the LCA's I went with battle version mainly because of cost.

I'd say bang for the buck PBM is cheapest with great quality so they win that category

Overall though i'd say SPL FTW, if money were of less importance than quality. I went with SPL because their local, and kuah has helped me out alot with little questions here and there, and never thought i was some 'drift kid' or some jackass that didnt know how to search. he just helped even without making a sale.

SPL rules customer service hands down

i think we're beating a dead horse here, guys. The texas guys love the support from SPL cuz its local and we San Diego guys love the support from PSM cuz they're local. Quality wise they're the same so either one is a good choice.

Between my old S14 and my new one i've had SPL, Battle Version, and PSM. ALL of them are quality. ALL had good customer service. Choose a color you like better and pick accordingly.

it's not the same thing

they BOTH make great parts, it's like compairing a cheese burger from Islands to one at In&Out. They both are great, but they both have a different market.

what i said is basically all you need to know. Let me reiterate, if you want to build a car that is more well rounded and capable of doing time attacks, drifting, daily driving, drag racing. SPL parts work great. On the other hand though, if you want to be able to slam you car to the ground and maintain a good geometry setup and have primarily drifting in mind Part Shop Max is the only one you should choose. Though if you have a budget in mind and just want best bang for buck? Both are high quality PSM is a little bit cheaper, about $20 - $65 which can add up if you are buying complete multi-link packages.
