well for some time now I've been wanting to make my own tail lights. after seeing the very nice but high priced kouki tails, i figured id alter my extra set of stock tail's. I've only done the right one so far which took 3 days, and would like to know what you guy's think, and if it was worth all the effort. well post up and give me some feed back. i still might do some more work to them and add a turn signal in the middle , so they look like r32 lights. but ill decide on that later.
ill post a pic of how it looks on the car later...

well i looked every ware, and found them at some whole sale warehouse. 18 wheelers use a 4 inch light these are like 5 or 6.

Can you replace them with LED lights instead? They would look ALOT better.

Keep the grey part black when you install them on the car.

Finally...the surface has to be smoother...then...GREAT~!

Also...make sure they work properly...brake, running, and turn signals.

I like that. I personally would have made the lights a little closer together (not much though it looks good still.) Was it hard to cut the holes in the lights without cracking the plastic? I know it can be brittle. What kind of blade did you use?

Another sand and paint will do wonders, the current finish looks like an ocean wave. Otherwise it's a unique attempt, much better than a lot of the shit we saw run through here.

those lenses look like the same that other people used to mod their taillights for the kouki lights look. can't you get them from kragen or something and tap screw those on? overall, it looks like the same way other people have done it, except it looks somewhat better because you painted the part around the two circles. others ive seen put those lenses on and used translucent red hobby paint over the whole tails and looked ugly.

good job. clean them up a little bit to make them smoother and they will look pretty good. i think a small rectangle turn signal in between them would look pretty good. that way it doesn't look like someone just vinyled over their stock lights. keep us updated with the finished product.

I started to do this with my coupe tails (because stock coupe tails are so bleh), with the LEDs from a trucking company - got 4 reds and 2 clears (that light up red) all for about $60 - problem was, coupe tails aren't tall enough, so I'd have to cut my trunk and fenders and smoothly glass in the excess - a shit ton of work. Also, I'd have to figure out what to do for the reverse lights...
