Post Review - Apexi's FC Commander Pro.

I have had my power fc on my Zenki SR for four months
now and after giving up on FC-Edit crew from australia ever
replying to my emails I decided I will take a "chance" and buy the
FC Commander Pro. This is basicly a PC version of the hand commander
with the added functionality of Dataloging and the ability to save maps
and upload them to the ECU. It also has the map trace function and will
mark pinging cells while tracing. This is a tool for those that want to self tune
their cars when a Excel dealer is not near you but is also nice to have
just to be able to see what your car is doing.
For all the PFC users that do not own a Datalogit box , and for those
still waiting for the FC Tune Version all they have left is the commander or their nearest power excel
dealer. I have got my car tuned quite well using the commander but
it is, literally, a pain to work with it although it grows on you after a while.
Another downside of not owning the datalogit is not having the WB inputs and
other outputs and a autotune feature. I own a innovate LC-1 and datalog the
values via their supplied software. Although there is no way to log the lc-1
data in the Apexi software that is not a big deal at all.
Mapping fuel is the easiest part about tuning as it is pretty obvious what you need.
Timing, well that is an entirely different story. Now that I have this
I will proceed with my engine upgrades and get more dyno time to really dial in my car.
I will be flying a tuner over from england to do the final mapping.
Here are screen shots of the software from the DATA window which allows
offline modification of the settings and the LOG section which
shows the saved datalogs. The Communication section is actually the two
previous sections merged into one but it is an ONLINE mode that shows realtime
data and controls dataloging and allows modifications to the maps.
The maps contain data that I used just to get a linear map
and is not a fully tuned map!!!! I recommend that you get your car tuned by a
professional tuning shop if you have one near you but If you do not and want to
take on the task of self tuning, do it right! Be patient! READ about it as much as
is humanly possible! Study other peoples maps, try and understand what they did
with them! If you have a question, ask! Baby steps! Buy a WIDEBAND! Buy/Make Det cans!
get your friends to help and get on a dyno!
********************************************
The Images below contain mapping data that may cause damage to your car if you try to apply them.
Neither I nor Zilvia.net can be held responsible if you use the settings in the images and blow up you engine!!!! If you use them it
is at your own risk

Not bad a few expanded features from the commander but not many. I can do pretty much most of that stuff from my commander. The expanded mapping features are the coolest thing. Though its funny I do not find the commander that annoying. Granted I am learning as I go but I guess because I am in area with a lot of dyno tuners who have PowerExcel and what not I am not to concerned about the real fine tuning. I guess being over in Israel would be a little different.

Just been out using the software for the last hour. Wanted to really get to know
it and all I can say is that it is really straight forward and very easy to get
familiar with and most of all, SAVES A HUGE AMOUNT OF TIME!!!!!!!

drift freaq: you are right, just a few expanded features and it is now closer to a complete
tuning solution. I agree completely about having tuners nearby, If I had a
good one near me I would go there for sure. I have always mapped my own cars
in the begining and then had an experienced tuner finish the job.
Slidin240Wayz: Thanks. The tuner I am bringing over has done three of my cars
in the past 4 years and around 40 cars in total for my group of friends. My imprezas,
evo and now he will be doing my sx. Not really going for all out power. I will be installing,
in a couple of weeks, a new tomei hg and poncams with exhaust pulley,Tomei Exhaust Manifold,
ARP head studs, RAS, and the HKS GT-SS. I have all the upporting mods as in z32 afm,
injectors, FMIC, intake, exhaust etc..
Aiming for 320whp with lightning fast response.
