s14 Speedo Sensor Location

Hi, ive searched the whole forum but still didnt find the answer,
car is a 96 silvia (prefacelift) sr20det, was once an auto, now manual.
speedo sensor is dead, bought a new one (for M\T),
where is the sensor located?
can i replace it myself?
it seems really simple....

Tail end of the transmission, secured by an M6 bolt.

Do it quick or you'll get gear oil all over you.

which side is better to jack the car from?
or does it need a lift?

It's on the passenger side, jacking it up from the back will allow some of the fluid to slosh forward, making less of a mess when you pull the sensor.

thats right. be careful not to round out the bolt. its kinda hard to get at without a very small socket/wrench.

Jacked the car up,but i couldnt find anything that fits the sensor,
took a picture, is that it?

thats the only thing that looked close...
can anyone post a pic of it?

It's the biggest sensor coming out of the gearbox. It has two wires and the wires run up to a connector near the firewall, next to the heater hose area.

if its the one on the right why cant you see the sensor? is it empty?
