Coolant expansion tank

My car overheated for the dumbest reason: leaking heater hoses. I'm so sick of this problem. I fixed them at least 5 times already.

The SARD coolant expansion tank from SPL looks pretty cool. http://www.splparts.com/Parts/Z32/En...ng/default.asp

I was just curious at how they routed the heater hoses. How would the heater get warm and how is coolant circulated to the heater core because there is only one line from the tank and it splits into the heater core?

Anybody with experience on rerouting heater hoses?

My friend working on my car showed this to me.

As you can see the one posted as "heater hose" on Sard's ad is going to the bleeder valve at the upper radiator waterneck.

What is the thread for the bleeder valve? I will need to purchase an adaptor for the hose.

I found the bottom radiator hose adaptor. It is the same thing Greddy and Buddy Club offer without the badge;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T-joi...spagenameZWD1V

I just need to find the proper fitting for this as well to accept the hose.

Thanks for the pix. I appreciate it.

I see the "heater hose" connection going to the bleeder bolt on the waterneck. That's neat. A lot of air comes out of that bolt when I bleed.

So you can just plumb the bleeder bolt line straight to the heater core and then back to the expansion tank. That makes sense. Hot coolant is coming out of the waterneck and all of the air would get bled from the heater core.

That looks awesome. I'm ordering it today.

Thanks for the response.

Found the NPT fitting for the adaptor: (1/8NPT to 1/4 inch hose)

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Here are the aluminum crush washers to keep it air tight:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Here is an "alternative" that I purchased. The only difference I saw was the hose and the bracket and obviously the fact that I can purchase 4 of these for 1 Sard tank.

I have my S14 SR waterneck that I haven't installed yet. I'll take it to Home Depot and check for you.

I know it is a 10mm bolt. I looked on summitracing for a 10mm fitting and they have them but on the other side, they all come with threaded ends compared to the above fitting pictured.

I will jsut wait for mine to arrive and I will let you know the specifics it comes with.

The 1/8 npt was for the lower radiator hose adaptor. I still need to find the ID of the lower radiator hose.

greddy is cheaper
or the ebay D1 spec one is cheaper too
just doesnt have the bleeder screw one either
greddy was the most complete one (ive had both the Greddy and the D1 Spec model one)

id get the greddy if you can.
unless u can afford this, but greddy iirc, is 1/2 the cost w/ the same stuff.
