![]() Ok so heres my situation this past friday my car over-heated (DOHC KA) due to my radiator cracking and the motor sounds like it has no compresion at all. I am trying to put together a parts list that is within my 6k budget. The motor is an S13 Blacktop @ 2700$ with everything included except the following: Exhaust, Downpipe, BOV, Intercooler, Clutch, Injectors, Radiator, and Fuel Pump. I would also like to throw in a boost controller, most likely MBC because they're cheap or a 2-in-1 gauge/controller setup. The motor will be going into an S13 coupe. My question is what parts do you guys recommend to fill the above mentioned spots. I really would rather avoid buying Megan everything to make budget, if you think I would have to do that to make my 6k cut-off then say it. Vendors feel free to chime in with some deals you have going on right now that may help me out. Any and all intelligent/serious responses are greatly apreciated, thanks in advance.

so you have around 3.3k to spend, you should be good, even better if you get some used parts. i know you want to avoid megan stuff (alot do), but some of it is pretty decent for its price like the downpipe and testpipe.
apexi exhaust $300 megan downpipe $<100 megan testpipe $50ish hks ssqv $150-200 greddy fmic(you can just buy ebay ic's, theyre fine but just heavy) $200-400 piping $100 exedy stage 2 clutch $200-300 stock sr 370cc injectors $<100 koyo radiator $<300 hoses $50-100 walbro 255lph fuel pump $90 mbc $50 these are really really rough estimates, around be around 2000s, feel free to correct me, hope this helps edit: i dont know what your plan is but with the extra money upgrade the suspension/wheels/body work |

gaskets, seals, spark plugs, water pump, motor mounts, etc... all that stuff i would change out since the motor is out. If you plan to do the clutch i would throw in a flywheel since your pulling it apart but if your on a tight budget then skip it. Nothing wrong with the megan downpipe and elbow, i've been using both for quite some time now with no problems. I would suggest waiting on the FMIC if your motor set really comes with everything like stock piping and the factory smic. You can upgrade that later down the road when your ready to boost more. Greddy oil pan is not a bad upgrade either since most motors have dented pans plus the greddy holds more oil which is a plus. Get the parts that will make your car run smooth and reliable.

1.
why are you going to pay $2700 on that when you dont even get the following: stock BOV, Intercooler, Clutch, Injectors, Radiator and most likely everthing else your going to need to do the swap. I payed 2300 for my blk top front clip and that came with everything. just keep looking

The reason I am paying what I am is because I am doing it through a local shop that is the only one I trust with this kind of thing. The other reason I cant keep looking is because this car is my DD and I need it up and running again ASAP. Which is also the reason I am not doing the swap myself, I will be paying the shop to do it. I cant afford the downtime if I hit a snag during the install nor do I have the resources to get parts quickly if something goes wrong lik ethey do. Not to mention I dont have the tools, but I could get them. Bottom line is I dont have the time to do it myself or keep looking til I find a real good deal on a clip. I also live on the east coast so its not like I am swimming in front clips like you lucky bastards out west. Thanks for all the input and keep it coming guys/gals. All help is appreciated.

I did the same thing, but ended up spending too much. One thing after another i wanted to replace after having the motor out. Ive got over 11k invested but i did buy everything new. My car is for sale now because im getting married and need to pay off my debts. CC are about 4k. Depending on the condition of your car you could swap all together and sell rolling shell for 1k. take a look, http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=145956 .

Also another gripe of mine - why is everyone buying $50 test pipes? The stock s14 2nd cat - the dummy cat - is just that a dummy cat - nothing inside it - the best "LEGAL" test pipe there is! |

parts are important too but shouldnt you also look into tunning the motor with the turbo as well? it should cost a pretty penny for tunning also. i mean ive seen many motors turboed but they all sound and dont last for shit because the tunning wasn't done.

Hello, Low Budget,SWAP,and Daily Driver= recipe for Disaster. If you're looking to perform all this on your DD then be prepared to take Public Transportation. My advice is to get a BEATER DD for a couple of grand. Youcan then approach the SR SWAP for what it really is, a "hobby". Which may provide you with daily transportation. I watched the owner of a TUNER/DRIFT SHOP become stranded in a KMART parking lot in his S13/SR. This was about 5 years ago.He was able to call his mechanic and DRIFT TOW VEHICLE come over. good luck bob |

that is too much for the motor........ i bought my s14 kouki motor for less than that..... another thing, you will kick yourself in the nuts if you dont buy a front clip, i guarentee it will save you time and money........ BELIEVE ME I MADE THAT MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did my whole build ( s13 chasis, s14 motor, front mount intercooler, hks bov, walboro fuel pump, koyo radiator, all the hoses (which have to be custom and are a pain in the butt), boost gauge, air to fuel gauge, and many more for $6000
