s14 S14 SR20 heater hoses

I know, im a newbie but I just got a simple question. On the s14 with the sr20 they r 2 heater hoses (top, bottom) coming from the firewall, they are also the 2 ports they plug into on the SR. (one being longer than the other) Can anyone explain if the (top, bottom) hose goes to the (shorter, longer one)

The hose that comes out of the back of the engine from a metal hardline that is running vertically to the drivers side goes to the top. The hose that comes out near the intake manifold goes on the bottom. I believe that's how mine is connected.
