I found Neejay's old thread and it didn't seem like there was a resolution as far as how it should be wired.

Anyone have more success then melting the button?

My ignition is messed up a lil and I have to fuck with the key juuuuust right to get it to start, so I thought this would be a quick/cheap/neat fix.

The S2000 button is only like $36.

Just a heads up Mel. Most people can't see neejay's thread, since it comes from Premie-Land.

Good luck with the project though. If you get the S2K button and wire it up, do a write up for us.

Hey Mel I just put one of these in my friend's civic, with a relay and some other stuff, dont know if that will help you tho.

Shoot, didn't even notice that when i was searching.

I have a friend who's an electronics/stereo/comp. guy who can probably assist me with this. I'll definatly do a write up though.

I found some other how-to's online for an RX7 and another car which gives me some insight. I was just hoping to find out if anything needs to be done specifically in a 240.

I'm sure a good reputable stereo install place would be able to do it. I mean they do auto start units, they'd probably be able to do something like that.

I have a good idea on how to run this with switches but this would lead to a how-to hot wire a car. If you want to know, we can talk through pm.

The way I wired it, it would only work with the key turned to ignition and the clutch pedal in.

yup, if you wire it like Joe (just replacing the starter lead going to the ignition with your relay/starter button) you'll still have to have the key in/turned to on, and the clutch in. Like Carlos said, if you need more info than that, it should prob be via PM. Other than locating the correct leads, wiring it up should be the same no matter what car you're doing it on.

Yea, that's what I'm looking at. Put the key in, turn, push in clutch, push button.

Werd, thats how I made it work on my friends civic. He can either use the key or button becuase I wired them in parallel.

I believe auto loc makes a complete push button start kit with everything you need

The S2000 one looks way cleaner and more OEM (cause it is).

Plus any of the aftermarket ones I've seen stay lit up when the key is on. Nothing like a big glowing red button while you're driving at night.

I'd like to get one of the assemblies from saab that has the little plastic key thing that sits in the hole in the center console to start it, those are bad.

Push start buttons are always cool. It wont put a strain on your starter will it?

Its a replacement switch for a neogeo machine. Then Just had to switch out the microswitch for a 12v 15amp unit.

U can get one from an altima too. I think it's around $30 too.

Push button is cool but I think it's dumb to add one more step to turning the car on... You already have to put the key into the ignition and turn it two clicks... One more and the car turns on...

I've got the "real" keyless system on my Lexus and that would be cool if someone could make that work with an older car...

I no longer use the key, and my chime is now a stall alarm out of a cesna, so if it turns off, i just jam the button.

im having trouble installing mine.ive follow numerous directions,but none of them work.any help?like i can here it click but it wont turn over.im supopsed to splice into the black/yellow wire rite?

Its not hard to do. If you neeed help just post up what your having problems with. You should allways use a relay to do this. Not just a switch because of the current draw.
