Inner & Outer Tie Rods

I'm looking to buy Inner Tie Rods and Outer Tie Rod Ends. I'm doing some reseach and do not want OEM, possibly NAPA brand but I'm still thinking about that.

I want aftermarket parts and found these manufacturers:

Peak Performance

SPL

Tien

Megan Racing

I'm leaning towards Peak Performance. They have PRO & STREET, not sure which one I want to get. Since I have stock suspension (will upgrade in the future) on a 91 coupe, I may go with STREET.

Also, considering SPL.

Any recommendations or actual usage of each product?

I have Peak Performance, PRO INNERS.

I don't know why I even bothered, after this shit, I'm just gonna buy SPL forever.

I had Teins, but those are no better than stock, just come with spacer for more angle, they got BENT, so I figured I'd upgrade, I got Peak Performance. I don't know why.

Just get SPL, they back their shit. Peak Performance I haven't heard much from, plus alot of their stuff is out of production or something, you can't get their front 5 lug anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped making any stuff for our cars anymore.

I'm just talking outta my ass about Peak, but seriously, get SPL.

I see you're new here, you might want to read through this thread on the same topic from last week:

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...azama+tein+spl

Here's another with relevant info

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...azama+tein+spl

Just search for "kazama tein spl" and you'll find plenty of threads about these components & user opinions. The majority seem to be happy with their SPL gear...

edit: Zilvia admin should remove 'inner' from the noise word file for the DB so that searches for "inner tie rod" work properly...

god damn internet misconceptions.

I followed it and got me into wasting money and tight situtation before dates that i really needed my car.

Dont use Z32 tie rods if you have an S13 (i dont know if this applies for S14s). The inners thread into the steering rack fine but the outter ball joint wont fit into the steering knuckle. SPL outters may work fine i dont know but OEM outters wont work with S13.

I never heard anything on tha Megan Racing one's either. JIC makes an inner but thats expensive as hell. Kazama makes Outer's but i'm not sure on them either.

A friend also recommended NAPA's brand on inner and outer, he said he bought moog's and they went out on him in a year. He's been on NAPA's ever since, roughly 2 years now.

Hey Edguardo, I just AIM'd you. I know who Modlicious is btw.

I went to Squirrel's shop and they wouldnt give me an alignment because of my steering rack was loose, needed new steering rack bushings, inner tie rods, also my lower control arm bolt was loose on tha passenger side. I tightened the bolt. And I'll PM you the rest!

Moog and tein are indeed stock.

So go with kazama or spl in/out.

I have kazama on my car right now and when the break; which has happened to some members without a crash. I'm going to call Kuah up and get my spl on.

Megan racing suspension parts are crap.

I sure as hell wouldn't trust their linkages on my car. Being a water drinker will end up costing you more when that shit breaks and you damage you car.

It has nothing to do with it being new. its that nobody is stuid enough to try it.

People who track their car need to know that they can rely on the suspension componets.

Then you have the people who drive to the grocery store and need nothing better. Those are the people who will buy that trash.

PREACH!

Remember, linkages are what keep your arms working together, if one breaks, the other parts have to work harder, to keep your ass on the road, so if they're all cheap, and one breaks, more than likely the others will break sooner due to the strain.

Hell no I don't have proof. I don't run cheap suspension products.

There is more to a higher price than JUST name. Quality and testing is highly importaint.

Just because megan racing coilovers are stiffer than stock, doesn't mean they don't suck.

If you've ridden on quality highend coilovers, you will notice that megan is valved and feels like utter crap.

Check the other cheap lowend suspension linkage threads that are out there.

Something is going to give out sooner or later.

I still don't understand why people take pride in their car then toss on some cheap parts when those are what's helping supporting and maintain control of your car.

Like I said, maby for the harparker extraordinaire it might be ok, but if you plan to track you need to know that you can rely on your suspension components. Not hope.
To answer the question, do I have proof? No. Not yet. I'll leave it up to you guys when you stuff breaks.

I hear megan racing coilovers are good for a cheap budget! But everyone I know that had them, upgraded to KTS or Stance!

However, I havent heard anything on the quality of their other suspension parts, tie rods, etc etc

Wow alot of information. Had one question though will tein tie rod inners fit with kazama or megan tie rod ends. Honestly looking at the megan racing tie rod ends compared to kazama's i couldn't see a difference. The only difference i saw were the colors, ones blue (megan) the other is red (kazama) Megan 50 bucks shipped kazama 200 shipped. Driving hard on our cars we really rely on our suspension but has anyone had any real experiences with megan tie rod ends? I know theres alot of guys out there who get all the name brand parts ( I am too) but megan tie rod ends look exactly the same plus they match my cusco tension rods. Only if cusco made some oh well. Well any ideas?

tein will only work with tein. JIC will work with stock ends.

for the most part, i feel that tie rods are tie rods. the only reason to go buy after market ones is if you want more angle, and a better turning radius. i dont care how much you spent on tie rods, theyre goin to bend or break if you hit something hard enough. if they dont, your steering rack will. a new stock tie rod is cheaper than buying a new steering rack.

k sport and stance are an upgrade from megan?!?! lol. i'd hate to break it to everybody, but there's probably one, maybe two, taiwanese companies manufacturing coilovers for 10 different companies. if youre not buying top of the line coilovers ($1500+) its probably just as crappy as any other $900 coilover. Valving is more important than having a super stiff spring rate.

coilovers do make a difference. ive ridden in a cars with $900 coilovers. my car has $2200 coilovers. when they were fresh out of the box it was great. 3 years of hard driving in the canyons = blown dampers = just as crappy as cheap coilovers. rebuild = more money.

if youre going to do nothing beyond speeding around town and occasionally doing donuts in an empty parking lot, go buy the cheap shit. dont lie to yourself about going to track events "eventually" and using that excuse to waste your parents' money on parts that you will never use to its potential.

PS. i like drinking water. it is good for you. soda will rot your brain.

yea those post of motoria, theres like 2 bad occurrences.well most people who've drifted em and what not, have had no problems. the 1st link seems to have alot more hate for em while the 2nd seems to favor them. idk. i bought em and no problems with em. i mean im not into cheap suspension at all, just i couldn't resist the deal.

There's no point in posting a thread asking us for our opinions when you're going to take the cheap way out anyways.
