90 Hatch build progress...lots of pictures

Well, I've had my 240 for about 9 months now and I'd say that is has come a long way from when I started off with it and there is only more to come within the next few months. I figured I'd share all the stages of my car with you guys, and just because I'm really bored. I got the car last November when I traded my 1994 Mitsubishi 3000gt sl for it. The 3000gt has 145k miles and couldn't pass inspection, but was a nice car. I traded for a 1990 240sx se hatch with a Redtop Sr20det with only 38k miles on it. It came with a huge GodSpeed FMIC, full Megan Racing Exhaust, Corbeau Racing seats and some other good stuff.

Here it is the day I got it.

The paint was in terrible condition, the hood was all scratched up, the fenders were cracked. So, I thought it was time for a change. I was originally looking for coilovers for the car and then my friend stumbled upon a 91 240sx for $1200. It came with JIC magic coilovers, replica racing seats, full interior, and all the motor needed was a fuel pump. So, I figured I could use the interior for my car along with getting coilovers and then I would be able to sell the seats and get some money back. So I picked up this..

IMO it was a very good buy and now I had a new front bumper, hood and fenders. Along with new headlight assemblies that didn't sound like a train barreling at you when they opened up. Hated that. Here are my two 240's sitting in my driveway at the time.

So, I started taking apart my 240. I began by taking off the bumper, fenders and the hood. Not going to lie, the car looked pretty bad ass without all that stuff on it.

Bad ass.

I started putting on the new headlight assemblies and the hood. The fenders and bumper from the parts car were a pain in the ass to get off. I stumbled upon a problem when I went to fit on the bumper and fenders. The bumper hit my fmic.

A little cutting and the bumper fit very nicely.

So, after getting the front end done (for now), I decided to sell the racing seats that came with the parts car for 550$. With this money, I bought some Kouki tail lights.

For fitting purposes. Looking gooooood!

Heres some random pictures. My 180sx quarter windows, Corbeau seats, dash, and how the car looks at this point.

Got the koukis working!

Stock height.

More updates of the progress later on tonight. I have to get to work!

That car looks terrible.
Paint should have been before the kouki lights
Stock suspension/ stock diff with all the motor work? Pointless.

Well thanks for all the replies! Just to let some of you know, hint hint n1sm0r, the car is a lot further than those pictures that I posted early. I just didn't have time to get through all my progress before work. If you look back here in about 10-20 minutes then you will see that theres alot more that comes!

EDIT: jkeisser - I actually sold those a while back to a kid on here. After the fact, I figured out that they were 20mm fenders. Oh well, they were all cracked up anyways. Sorry!

Some people can really be Jackasses... Since when does a person have to "Derserve a Thread"? & why do people feel the need to instruct others on how to build Their cars?

Anyway,Its good sometimes see guys who don't have a 10 Grand to blow on wheels.Keep it up.

BTW aleast your working on your OWN car and not taking it to some shop to have things done like alot of people do. You will learn alot and things, you will just keep getting better. and like I told you on aol get the car prepped and sanded and make a trip down to ohio and I will paint it in a weekend to save you big on money.

Well, the point of this thread is that it's a build up; my car from start to beginning. I have plenty more pics with a lot more progress that I am about to post up and I just thought that I would share it with everyone here on Zilvia. Yes, there are still come things I need and you will see that after I finish posting up what I have done, but here I can get opinions. Some people will like it, some people wont. Whatever.

Had to take off the bumper and fenders to hook up the directionals, the wire for these was all messed up, so I fixed that with the help of my parts car. Also cut the front bumper a bit.

And so, the sanding began..

So, after sanding for a while, it got kind of boring and I watched to switch it up a bit. I decided to put on the coilovers. So, off they came from the parts car..

And here it is with the back coilovers in.

Well here is the part car with no back suspension. I wasn't able to get the stock suspension in and I was kind of in a rush. Tuckin' big time, Haha.

And finally I got the front coilovers on.

boosted98gst - It feels great. I don't know why anyone would choose springs over coilovers. I drive on shitty New Hampshire roads too, and it isn't even that bad. Just avoid the big pot holes and you're good to go

Looks to be comin along. But you should try and get the hood/bumper/headlight to line up better. Of course I cant say much cuz mine is the same way. Except with the gap to the right, lol. If its anything like mine its a pain in the ass though.

Oh yeah, the gaps are definitely a pain in the ass. I ordered a kit for it, so I don't think that I am going to mess with the bumper at all. I'm also looking for some nice wheels for the car, so if anyone has any opinions or is selling any, let me know! thanks!

Well I don't want to paint it until I get my kit. And that is coming soon, so paint and wheels are next on the list!

Thanks steve shadows!

Well, now I have another problem and the car won't start. I made another thread about it because I needed quick answers. I'll keep you guys updated; kit should be here within the next few days.
