S14 SR Problems

Ok, I am posting this for a friend. We are trying to get his car running but to no avail. What we have is that about 4k it hits a wall and starts bogging really bad. The only question I have is will a SOHC MAF work on a S14 SR? That is what was on it when he got it. Also I really didn't understand but we checked his timing and set it to 15 and when I plugged the TPS back in it advanced the timing to like 22??? Could it be the TPS? Voltage is .58 closed and 3.99 WOT.
Thanks

never do the timing check with the tps pluged in. timing is always read with tps off, it doesn't mater what the timing is at with the tps pluged in.
set your timing to 15 btdc.

you have a bad coilpack.
