I've seen a few good looking coupes, but fastbacks always look good, even stock. Coupes look like ass stock.

when it was in tech, I interepreted it as a tech topic.

There is a valid discussion of structural rigidity, aerodynamics, corrosion resistance, weight and weight distribution in there somewhere. Guess it got hammered down by "my car is prettier!" posts.

if you do a silvia front end conversion, the coupe wins hands down.

A few people have been saying that the hatchback is the true sportscar. There are two things i see wrong with this. One is that the coupe slightly outperforms the hb, and two the sportscar flagship of nissan, the gtr is a coupe. So coupe all the way.

i'd have to say hatchback.. they're so dang sexy! the coupes don't have the curves of those rear fenders that i so lovingly gaze at while getting gas all the time. coupes are nice and sleek.. but don't look quite right unless they have the S13 front end conversion done. i've also found that you can both eat, sleep, and hang out in the hatch. can you say that about coupes?

Ok ya but there are two camps at Nissan one is the Skyline camp and the other is the Fairlady Z Camp. The Fairlady was considered the premier sports car of the company until the R32 GTR.
The Skyline cannot be compared technically to a Silvia coupe for one main reason . In its GTR form its AWD completely different beast.
Now lets get back to the Fastback it has a lower drag coefficent than either the S13 coupe or the S14(this is probably going to rile hippo, hehehe). That is a very important feature in a sports car of modern design.
once again I state I like all the cars even the S14 I am not biased against anyone like some people on this forum.
I just feel from a sports car sense the S13 Fastback is the shiznit.

what are you comparing... JDM coupe VS hatch? or US 240SX coupe vs fastback?...

the silvia coupe pics you guys are showing isn't really fair.. cuz the US version as we all know comes w/ a 180 front end

you think this....

looks like this???

If anything, there is similarity to this...

or maybe this....

but then what about the similarities between this....

and this....

That's all I have to say about that. The only thing I want to add is that coupes have nicer lines when paired with the Silvia front (the way it was meant to be)...but the fastback in its USDM form is more concinnuous (look it up).

The perved out ford probe. The hatch is so damn close, almost makes me gag.
But for real, there are absoulutely no curves on the old preludes. I have a coupe half stripped sitting on blocks with the 180(early) nose on it, and it still manages some definite curves. When lowered it looks almost like a flattened elongated Rx-7. The coupe body just looks more mean, The hatch, especially with the tail lights, comes off as almost pedestrian. The impression of a sports car is not as apparent as in the exotic look of the back half of the coupe. That reminds me ., I need a coupe really, really Bad.

I don't use my car to haul shit around, the trunk size doesen't bother me any. It's kinda rare too, compared to the fastback...but I will admit, it doesen't look all that great w/ the usdm front end.

So, I vote COUPE!

And I'd much rather have my car mistaken for a Quaalude than a Probe.

p.s., My friend read some of this, and here's what he has to say:
"I feel at the end of the day we should a take pride and faith in that we own a car that is a Nissan that it stands for some good in the import world unlike some other company I will not speak about."

I've always thought a coupe looks alot like a 1st gen 2dr Integra. The tails have almost the same shape and the rear end looks almost identical.

lets whup ituntil it bleeds.
ha ha just joking
but
the coupe also is easier to see out the back window. I ts almost right there inyoou face compared to the length of the coupes. I just like that notched back look of the coupe.

now when you throw the S15s oin the front of the Coupe and make up some skyline like tails and your cooking with Gas!!

The fastback, in my opinion, is sportier than the coup and also better : P. The tailights complete the look. I also agree that the coupe looks a lot like the older gen integras, well the back trunk area. So my vote is for the FASTBACK!

yet my vote still comes down to the 180sx i.e. S13 fastback

Huh?

coupe= 2 doors
sedan= 4 doors

I don't think there was ever a sport sedan version of the 240. Well, unless you consider camppain's custom 4 door ride with a transverse fwd sr20de usdm swap, and a 4x100 lug conversion.

More tidbits.

Coupe= stiffer and lighter
Fastback= a bit more aerodynamic and stable at speed

Looks are subjective. I have coupe days and hatch days.
